  • The Masters is in a weather delay as thunderstorms roll through Augusta on Saturday afternoon.
  • Augusta National announced play will resume at 5:15 p.m. ET.
  • Justin Rose is through six holes and leads Will Zalatoris by one stroke.

UPDATE: Play will resume at 5:15 p.m. ET. Sunset at Augusta is at 7:55 p.m. ET, so the leaders will have about three hours to complete their round, which should be enough time to finish if there are no more delays.

UPDATE: Play has been suspended just before 4 p.m. ET, with leader Justin Rose on the seventh hole. Will Zalatoris is one behind him but could be facing a bogey after the delay.

Kevin Roth of RotoGrinders said his best guess was that they'd be back on the course around 5 p.m. ET. There may be some lightning near Augusta, but it will more like hit between 4 and 4:30 p.m. ET, and then play could resume in light rain.

There haven't been any official reports about a time that play will resume.

🏌️‍♂️☔️ No promises, but I’m thinking they’ll probably head back out and try to play in the lighter rain after this leading edge passes through.

Saturday afternoon could prove pivotal on the leaderboard thanks to the expected forecast in the third round of the Masters Tournament.

Stronger winds and potential thunderstorms could shake things up as the leaders are on the course in the afternoon.

Winds will sit around 9 mph and reach gusts up to 15 mph in the morning, but those are expected increase to steady 13 mph winds with gusts up to 17 mph.

That's not all, though. According to AccuWeather, there's greater than a 60% chance of rain in the afternoon, including the threat of thunderstorms.

Showers could continue into the evening, but as of Friday night, there is not expected rain on Sunday morning.

The threat of thunderstorms could delay afternoon groups to later in the evening or even a Sunday morning finish. Even if the field escapes the storms, higher winds will create tougher playing conditions than what the morning groups can expect.
