We saw the other side of links golf during the first 36 holes from The Renaissance Club.
Simply put, when the wind is down on a links golf course, the birdies will come with ease. Any course that has wider landing areas off the tee and somewhat receptive greens will yield itself to birdies in bunches. That is exactly what we saw to start of the 2024 Scottish Open.
This style of golf needs weather elements to kick up in order to punish golfers. Sadly for us, but good for the golfers, it does not look like it will be overly difficult over the weekend. Expect the course to firm up a tad, but there still be high scores out there.
Below, we will take a look at the leaderboard and find a few Scottish Open bets to cash Sunday afternoon.

Scottish Open Bets | Odds & Picks
Xander Schauffele Top 10 (+140)
Schauffele got off to a slow start in his effort to win another Scottish Open from The Renaissance Club. After a 1 under round of 69 to start the event, he bounced back with a comfortable round of 65 to get within striking distance at -6 heading into the weekend.
Nobody loves backdooring a high finish more than Schauffele. Maybe Tommy Fleetwood would argue that statement, but either way, Schauffele is in range to do what he does best.
This number is not far off from his pre-tournament odds. Schauffele was around +110 to finish inside the top 10 before they teed off, so the fact that he is only +140 sitting outside the top 20 shows what the books think.
He continues to play consistently and has made just one bogey through 36 holes. He has yet to get his feet underneath him, which could just be some rust from not playing since The Travelers. Look for Schauffele to put together two very solid rounds and cash another top 10, a final placement he has hit in nearly all of his starts this year.
Erik van Rooyen Top 20 (+175)
van Rooyen has posted two comfortable rounds of 67 and sits at -6 heading into to the weekend. He is not out of contention to contend and he knows he has what it takes to win.
That may be a lot to ask for, but this is a very juicy T20 number for a golfer who makes sense on this golf course and is playing well! van Rooyen entered this event in very solid form and is looking the part.
The wind should pick up a tad, which will play in his favor. He loves to flight the ball low and plays really solid golf in these conditions.
Tom Kim Top 10 (+500)
Kim has finished inside the top 10 on this course multiple times — and those were in some very tough conditions. With the weather looking a tad tougher going forward, there is no reason Kim cannot make a charge.
He is a golfer who can put together outlier rounds in rough conditions. Every few majors, or difficult event, Kim will post a score far better than the field in a given round.
This is a great number on a golfer in great form who has done it at The Renaissance Club multiple times.
