There's no time for breaks in the heat of the PGA Tour season.
Typically, there are down weeks surrounding major championships. Not this week.
Most of golf's best players made the trip across the country from Los Angeles to Connecticut for the Travelers Championship. The Travelers is an elevated event, meaning the top players are playing for big money and more FedEx Cup Points.
Eight of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Rankings are in the field this week, and bettors have been placing their bets on all of the major stars.
Scottie Scheffler heads into the week as the big favorite with +600 odds at BetMGM. He's receiving 6.4% of the bets and 9% of the total handle.
The most popular bet of the week is coming off another major disappointment. Rory McIlroy just lost by one stroke to Wyndham Clark at the U.S. Open, and bettors are expecting him to bounce back. The No. 3 ranked golfer in the world is getting 7% of the tickets and accounts for 5.4% of the handle at BetMGM. McIlroy enters this week at +1000.
The biggest liability for BetMGM this week is Tommy Fleetwood at +2800. He's receiving 6.8% of the bets and accounts for 9.3% of the money. Fleetwood shot a 63 on Sunday at the U.S. Open and lost the Canadian Open in a playoff the week before.
Another liability for BetMGM is Tom Kim at +3500. Kim celebrated his 21st birthday on Wednesday and has started to show flashes after struggling for most of the season. He's getting 4.1% of the tickets and accounts for 5.8% of the handle.
There are some sharp bets out there according to the BetMGM market report. One of them is Collin Morikawa, who has gone from +2500 at the start of the week to +2200 after receiving 3.9% of the tickets and 5.1% of the money.
The sharpest play of the week is the No. 2 golfer in the world, Jon Rahm. He's getting just 4.4% of the bets but accounts for 10.3% of the handle.
