Valero Texas Open Odds 2024
The PGA Tour heads to San Antonio, Texas for the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course) following Stephan Jaeger's one-shot win at the Texas Children's Houston Open.
The Valero Texas Open features a full field of 156 players as this event offers golfers one final chance to qualify for the Masters Tournament with a win if they are not already in the field for the first major championship of the year.
Many golfers, like Rory McIlroy, are using the Valero Texas Open as an opportunity to get their games ready for Augusta National Golf Club next week, and McIlroy opened as the outright betting favorite at +1050 odds on Wednesday. This will be the Northern Irishman's third start at TPC San Antonio as he finished in solo second here in 2013 and missed the cut in 2022.
McIlroy has not had any top-10 finishes in his five PGA Tour starts so far this season, but four of his five results have been between 19th and 24th. His driver has been elite as usual, as he ranks second on Tour in Strokes Gained (SG): Off the Tee and first in Total Driving. However, McIlroy's approach play, putting and around the green play have all been average or below average, as he ranks outside the top 90 on Tour in each of these Strokes Gained categories.
Canadian Corey Conners is the defending champion this week after winning the 2023 Valero Texas Open by a shot, and he opened with +2400 odds to repeat and is now +2700 as of Wednesday. This was both his second career PGA Tour victory and second win at the Valero Texas Open. He also won at TPC San Antonio in 2019, after getting into the field as a Monday qualifier. No Monday qualifier has gone on to win a tournament since he did so in 2019.
Conners enters with top-25 finishes in three of his last four starts, including a tie for 13th when he teed it up most recently at THE PLAYERS Championship. The Kent State Golden Flash's ball-striking has been immaculate this season as he ranks among the top 15 on Tour in both SG: Off the Tee and SG: Approach. However, his short game and putting need to step up as he has been consistently below average there, ranking outside the top 130 in each SG: Around the Green and SG: Putting.

Some other notables in the field this week and their outright odds include Max Homa (+2700), Matt Fitzpatrick (+3000), Tommy Fleetwood (+3700) and Collin Morikawa (+3200).
