This time of year is dominated by the NFL, NBA and the MLB playoffs, but we still have plenty of golf tournaments to wager on.

This week we head to Los Cabos for the World Wide Technology Championship. This event was previously held at El Cameleon but will now be held at El Cardonal, which marks the first time a course Tiger Woods has designed is featured on the PGA Tour.

The scorecard looks pretty straightforward — this is a par-72 that measures 7,452 yards and features four par-5s.

However, the actual characteristics of the course stray from what we typically see on the PGA Tour. The fairways are 60 yards wide, the greens are massive (8,200 square feet), and there is essentially no rough to speak of.

We don't know exactly how the course is going to play since this is the first time we've seen it in action, but it should set up favorably for those who have distance off the tee. With the large greens and good scoring conditions, there should be an emphasis on iron play and putting rather than around the green play.

If golfers are missing these large greens in a birdie fest, they will find trouble.

Let's dive straight into my favorite outright bets for the 2023 World Wide Technology Championship.

World Wide Technology Championship Picks

Stephan Jaeger +2800 (bet365)

Depending on what time frame you are looking at (I like to use the last six or 12 months), Stephan Jaeger is among the top 10 in this field in Ball Striking, Birdie or Better Rate, Bogey Avoidance and Greens in Regulation.

He hasn't been in contention much but also hasn't missed a cut since April while tallying six top-20 finishes during that span. He has what it takes to win on Tour, and I could see it happening on one of these resort courses by the water.

He's seventh in the field in Strokes Gained per round on courses with Paspalum greens and fourth in the field in Strokes Gained per round on par-72 courses.

Pick: Stephan Jaeger Outright +2800

Beau Hossler +2800 (FanDuel)

It's hard to argue with the form that Beau Hossler has displayed in the last few months. He's always been known for his short game but has struggled with Ball Striking for most of his career.

However, he seems to have figured something out because he's gained at least 2.6 strokes on Ball Striking in three of his last four starts with ShotLink data; the start that didn't have ShotLink data was the Zozo Championship where he finished in a tie for second.

He's long off the tee and an excellent putter, which could be a great recipe on this golf course.

Pick: Beau Hossler Outright +2800

Mark Hubbard +5500 (FanDuel)

Mark Hubbard doesn't fit the bomber narrative that most people are playing this week, but the truth is we don't exactly know what type of golfer will fare well here.

If off the tee play is important, Hubbard has 8.1 Strokes Gained: Off the Tee in his last three starts. He's one of the best iron players in the field and is one of the only players that is among the top 20 in both Birdie or Better Rate and Bogey Avoidance.

He's lurked near the top of the leaderboard a few times recently, so hopefully he'll control his nerves the next time he's in contention.

Pick: Mark Hubbard Outright +5500

I'm also sprinkling 0.1 units on each of these three as the first round leader.

Best of luck this week!
