The Outlook

Listing the game’s most underrated golfers is an exercise in futility, because as soon as we place a player high on that list, by definition we’ve now rated him to an extent that makes our point moot. That mouthful said, X-man would certainly garner votes in any competition to herald the unheralded.

He won last year’s Tour Championship, was top six in each of the last two U.S. Opens, and even pulled a top 20 in his Open Championship debut last year. If Schauffele is going to make a serious run at qualifying for this year’s Ryder Cup team — and I still think he will — he needs a few big results soon, and this would be a great week for it to happen.
