If you're attending Saturday's Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, it would be wise to get out your sunscreen and drink plenty of water. Yes, horse-racing fans. It's going to be a hot one and then some.
Record temperatures could hit the city hosting the 147th running for the second leg of the sport's Triple Crown series. If the temperature reaches 96 degrees Fahrenheit or more, it will set a new record in the city.

The National Weather Service has issues an alert with Hazardous Weather Conditions from the area, which includes an Air Quality Statement, Special Weather Statement and Hazardous Weather Outlook.
Current conditions as of 12:15 p.m. ET at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (KBWI) weather station put the temperature at 89 °F, with humidity at 50 percent and the dew point at a stuffy 68 °F.
Making weather matters worse is the Heat Index, which is sitting at 93 °F and still climbing. The weather is forecasted to stay this way throughout the day, with mostly sunny skies and westerly winds moving at 6 to 8 miles per hour.

The Preakness will feature nine of the top 3-year-old horses in the world going 1 3/16 miles on the Pimlico dirt track. Post time for the race is set for 7:01 p.m. ET, with NBC providing the TV coverage.
Earlier races from Pimlico will air on CNBC from to 2-4 p.m. ET, then switch to NBC from 4-7:30 p.m. ET. You can also stream the races on NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app and Peacock Premium.
