There are just seven horses running — First Mission was scratched on Friday morning — in horse racing's second Triple Crown event this year, so we have to adjust our definitions of Preakness longshots a bit compared to the Kentucky Derby a couple of weeks ago.
Mage, the Kentucky Derby winner, is unsurprisingly the Preakness favorite at 8-5 odds, followed by First Mission at 5-2 and National Treasure at 6-1.
On the other end of the Preakness odds board, there are four horses with odds of 10-1 or greater to win at Pimlico Race Course.
With this in mind, let's take a look at the four biggest Preakness longshots for tonight's race.
Preakness Longshots
*Odds via TwinSpires as of Saturday morning
Red Route One (10-1 Odds)
A horse with 10-1 odds isn't typically considered a "longshot," but we'll consider Red Route One a longshot based on the fact that this price is on the bottom half of the Preakness' odds board.
Perform (15-1 Odds)
Again, 15-1 may not necessarily fall under your definition of a Preakness longshot. However, only two horses have longer odds to win tonight's race than Perform.
Coffeewithchris (20-1 Odds)
Coffeewithchris not only has the best name of any horse racing the Preakness, but he is also among the least likely to cross the finish line first at Pimlico.
Chase The Chaos (50-1 Odds)
And alone at the bottom of the Preakness odds board is Chase The Chaos at a staggering 50-1, making this horse the longest of longshots on Saturday night.
