Swift Delivery, a horse co-owned by Travis Kelce who shares a name with the Kansas City tight end’s pop star girlfriend, Taylor Swift, lived up to his name this weekend by finishing a game second in the $125,000 Toronto Cup at Woodbine.
A three-year-old gelding, Swift Delivery rallied from the back of the pack in the mile-long stakes race on turf, but couldn’t quite catch the winner, Piper’s Factor, who went off at odds of 7-1.
Swift delivery went off as the 1-1 favorite, causing one to wonder whether Taylor Swift’s influence on prop bets involving her boyfriend last NFL season might carry over to the racetrack.
Meanwhile, at Saratoga, another 7-1 shot, Highland Falls, wore down the Whitney champ, Arthur’s Ride (4-5), in the final furlong to win the 1 1/4-mile Jockey Gold Cup Sunday and earn an automatic spot in the starting gate for the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar this fall.
