We have two men’s college lacrosse games Tuesday, with a crosstown meeting featuring Johns Hopkins vs. Towson and a competitive matchup between St. Joe’s and Boston University. Rather than betting a side or total in either game, I’m targeting a player prop in each. Let’s take a look at which two props I like.

Johns Hopkins was nine minutes away from a convincing victory before a fourth-quarter collapse saw Denver finish the game with four straight goals, including the game-tying goal with less than two seconds in regulation. We can expect that loss is not sitting well with the Blue Jays.
I expect Hopkins to bounce back against Towson, but -6.5 is still too much to lay with a team that could leave the backdoor open for Towson even in a convincing victory. Towson’s defense ranked eighth in adjusted defensive efficiency during competitive situations (excludes garbage time), according to Lacrosse Reference. Ultimately, the sportsbooks set a good line and I’d rather bet Towson’s defense in a different way.
Jacob Angelus is the quarterback of the Hopkins offense. He led the team in assists last season with 43 and 71% of his points came from assists. Angelus doesn’t need to be a goal-scorer and the Hopkins offense fares much better when he feeds their shooters like Russell Melendez, Garrett Degnon and Brendan Grimes. So as low as 2.5 shots on goal may seem for his SOG prop, it’s not low enough.
Angelus stayed under this mark in 14 of 18 games last season and 27 of his last 34 games. We’re getting plus money on an under that should be around -350 to -380.
In fact, Angelus has stayed under 2.5 shots (including attempts that don't hit the cage or goalie) in 15 of his last 34 games (44.12%). Angelus scored three goals on three shots last week, which is why we’re getting an inflated number for this game. But make no mistake, Angelus will still remain the facilitator of this offense and do his best work as a feeder, not a shooter. This is a great chance to bet Angelus to stay under 2.5 shots on goal at +105 on DraftKings.

If the thought of taking Angelus under 2.5 shots on goal in the first game made you uneasy, then brace yourself for my favorite prop in St. Joe’s vs. Boston University. We’re betting another under and targeting St. Joe’s star midfielder Levi Anderson.
Anderson will be a pro in both the Premier Lacrosse League (outdoor) and National Lacrosse League (indoor) this time next year, but 4.5 shots on goal is actually a fairly high number for him. Anderson stayed under this mark in 10 of 15 games last season and 24 of his last 33 games. His odds to stay under should be closer to the -200 to -270 range, yet you can bet him to stay under at -120 on DraftKings.
Furthermore, he’ll be defended by a fairly good Terriers defense. Boston U ranked 17th in adjusted defensive efficiency last year, allowing goals on just 27.4% of defensive possessions despite having goaltender play that ranked 62nd in competitive situations, according to Lacrosse Reference. Boston U’s defense is good because of how few shots it allows, ranking fourth in shots allowed per possession with an average of just 0.9 per possession in 2023.
Based on the odds and matchup, this is a great spot to bet Anderson to stay under 4.5 shots on goal.
