The second Premier Lacrosse League game scheduled for Saturday of Week 3 is another rivalry game featuring the Carolina Chaos and Utah Archers. Utah is a 1.5-point favorite despite failing to cover in back-to-back games and losing outright to Carolina last season. The total is currently 24.5 across all sportsbooks.

Let’s dive into my four PLL best bets for Saturday, June 15.

Most meetings between these two teams have been physical slugfests and, even with some new personnel on both teams, I expect another defensive battle.

The Carolina defense has looked strong through three games. They held both Denver and California to 11 points in their two wins, and even held New York to their lowest point total this season, despite the loss. The average PLL team shooting percentage this season is 28.8% and was 27% in 2023.

Carolina has held all three of their opponents to under the league average with an opposing shooting percentage of 23.3%. They've also historically played well against this Archers unit that is largely unchanged, holding them to an average of 9.3 goals per game in their last three meetings.

While Utah certainly has a ton of offensive firepower, I expect Carolina to find success defensively, regardless if Austin Kaut starts again or Blaze Riorden reclaims the starting role following an injury in Week 1.

On the other end, Utah has looked solid defensively for six of eight quarters this season, collapsing in the fourth quarter of both their games. While these late-game lapses are a bit concerning, I’m not worried about this Brett Dobson-led unit long-term, particularly against a Carolina offense that is still finding its footing.

While Carolina’s shooting percentage ranks first at 40.4%, it is inflated by a low sample size and doesn’t take into account Carolina’s league-high 56 turnovers as Chaos beat reporter Hayden Lewis points out. Carolina has a handful of new offensive threats, but is still getting used to playing with each other and has had far too many unforced errors. I don’t expect the Chaos offense to full turn the corner on Saturday night.

Bet this game to stay under 24.5 at -113 on BetRivers.

I’m also targeting the under for three player props. For Carolina, I’m betting Josh Byrne to stay under his points prop of 4.5 at -160 on DraftKings. Byrne has stayed under this mark in nine of his last 10 games and despite coming close in two games this season, I’m not convinced we’ll see an outing with five or more points against Utah, especially now that he commands even more attention from opposing defenses with Dhane Smith no longer on the team.

As for Archers, I’m also betting Tom Schreiber to stay under 4.5 points at -175 on bet365. Schreiber has had four or fewer points in 11 of his last 14 games and has only surpassed this mark once in his last seven games against Riorden and this Carolina defense.

I’m also betting Mac O’Keefe to stay under 3.5 points at +110 on bet365. The Utah attackman has stayed under in seven of his 14 games with the Archers, but Carolina held him to just two points last year. He was also listed as questionable with a hand contusion on the injury report, so he could be limited if he does end up suiting up.

Picks: Under 24.5, Josh Byrne Under 4.5 Points, Tom Schreiber Under 4.5 Points, Mac O’Keefe Under 3.5 Points
