The final game of the weekend features the mid-atlantic rivals Philadelphia Waterdogs and Maryland Whipsnakes. The Waterdogs are 1.5-point favorites in their second game of the weekend and the total is 24.5. I don’t see much value on the spread or total but I do have two props for a specific player I’m targeting.
Philadelphia Waterdogs vs. Maryland Whipsnakes
Philadelphia (-1.5) | Moneyline (-150) |
Maryland (+1.5) | Moneyline (+122) |

Despite Philadelphia falling to the Boston Cannons on Saturday, Waterdogs star attackman Michael Sowers had a monster game, finishing with three goals and five assists. We cashed in on Sowers’ big performance on Saturday, but I think this matchup with Maryland is a good time to fade the Philly native.
Sowers points prop is now up to 4.5, a line which he’s stayed under in 11 of his last 15 games. While historically he’s had success against the Whipsnakes, Maryland made a key offseason acquisition that should help them defend Sowers.
Whipsnakes head coach Jim Stagnitta was not shy in saying the reason Maryland drafted defender Ajax Zappitello with the third overall pick in this year’s draft was to defend Michael Sowers and other quick attackman like him. Zappitello already has experience covering Sowers in college and I expect him to be effective in at least limiting the speedy Waterdog enough to stay under his current line of 4.5. Bet Sowers to stay under 4.5 points at -146 on FanDuel.
I’m also targeting Sowers’ shots on goal prop of 5.5 on bet365. While Sowers has only stayed under this mark in seven of his last 15 outings, I trust Maryland to limit his quality shooting opportunities enough to stay under this mark. Bet Sowers to stay under 5.5 shots on goal at -130.
Picks: Michael Sowers Under 4.5 Points & Under 5.5 SOG
