Villarreal and Getafe kick off this weekend’s soccer action in La Liga on Friday night at El Madrigal.
The Yellow Submarines are unbeaten in their last four league games to move up to 13th in the table.
Meanwhile, Getafe are having an excellent campaign, entering this match in the top half of the Spanish top flight.
Both clubs have been playing more open and attacking in fixtures this season, which I believe will lead to goals to start the weekend.

Villarreal
When José Bordalás returned to the club in April, Getafe were in the relegation zone with seven games remaining. He now has the team just five points away from the European places.
Bordalás has also given his squad more freedom to go forward than recent teams for the club. This has provided both platforms for Borja Mayoral and Mason Greenwood to flourish.
The Spanish striker only trails Jude Bellingham for league goals with 15. He is also one of just four La Liga players to own a +3.4 or better mark in goals minus expected goals, according to fbref.com.
Greenwood has been a great signing on loan from Manchester United. The English playmaker has five goals and assists, which are his best numbers since the 2019-20 campaign in the Premier League.
Getafe
In November, Villarreal decided to make a switch at manager by bringing back Marcelino, who previously took the club to the semifinal of the Europa League in 2016.
Marcelino is the fourth manager to coach the squad in this campaign. The Yellow Submarines are desperately looking for stability since the departure of Unai Emery.
Some of Emery’s key players are still at the club, including striker Gerard Moreno. The Spanish star leads the team with 10 league goals to go along with a pair of assists.
Moreno is tied in goal contributions with Alexander Sørloth who has eight goals and four assists. The duo should make the Yellow Submarines difficult to defend every game.
Villarreal vs Getafe
Prediction
These are two teams that have played in high-scoring matches recently, and I believe that continues here.
So, my best bet is for both teams to score at -134. With this being right on the edge of the price I would play it at, I also don’t hate the total to go over 2.5 at -106.
Starting first with the host, this same play would have cashed in eight of 11 La Liga games under Marcelino. One of the reasons for this has been how great the Yellow Submarines have been offensively.
Over those 11 fixtures, Villarreal are averaging 1.63 expected goals and 2.54 big chances per 90 minutes. This is also the same team that has only kept one clean sheet over this span.
As for Getafe, eight of 12 road games have seen both teams find the back of the net. This hasn’t been your typical strong defensive squad over the years.
Bordalás’s squad ranks towards the bottom of La Liga in allowing 1.658 xG and 2.58 big chances per match away from home. In fact, Getafe have only kept two shutouts on the road.
With the key attackers available for this match, I can only see goals on Friday night at El Madrigal.
