Bonus Bet, Explained
Once you're all registered and used bonus code ACTION at checkout, you'll get a $1,000 bonus bet.
But BetMGM doesn't really say you have a bonus bet — you just need to make your first bet, and if it loses, you'll get refunded the same amount you lost in bonus bets.
Here's an example: I deposit and bet $100 on the Flyers at +250 against the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.
Here's how it can go:
- If Philly wins, I pocket $250, and keep the original $100.
- If Philly loses, I get $100 back in bonus bets.
Pretend the Flyers lose, and you have the bonus bets. What happens now?
The best way to do that is by betting on plus-money wagers, because you're getting more expected value.
So let's say you take your $100 in bonus bets, which MGM should split up into $20 increments, and bet all $100 on the Texans moneyline on Thursday Night Football at +525. That's where it's priced as of Wednesday morning.
If the Texans win, you profit $525, but don't keep the $100 in bonus bets. So you'll have $525 in your account you can now withdraw or continue betting, after depositing $100.
If the Texans lose, you end up with nothing.
That's why these offers aren't really guaranteed. You can lose your entire deposit, though it's unlikely if you split the bonus bets up and don't bet them all on one thing.
