Friday night hoops arrives with eight NBA bouts and $1,000 worth of return bet value with BetMGM bonus codeTOPACTION.
It's a first bet on the house. So you'll get refunded in bet credits equal to what you lose, up to $1,000. This can be used on any game or sport of the evening, or throughout the weekend.
If you're more interested in grabbing the value without betting strategy, ACTIONNBA gets $200 in bet credits if a single 3-pointer is hit by the team you bet. This bonus is live in OH, MD, KS, IL and LA Friday.
Don't fret on this one: It's been about seven years since an NBA team didn't hit a single 3 in a game.
We'll break down how TOPACTION will operate when betting on Friday's slate of NBA action.
Betting With BetMGM Bonus Code TOPACTION on Friday
Whether it's the endless TV commercials or the ads at the train station, we know there’s a lot of promotional sportsbook language flying around. We broke each of them down to simplify things.
Let's use the 7 p.m. tipoff between Portland and Washington as an example in explaining what to expect with this bet.
Choosing a Bet: Trail Blazers-Wizards
Don't look now, but the Wizards (24-26) have won six straight. After Wednesday's game in Detroit was postponed due to inclement, they'll be taking the hardwood for the first time in four days.
Portland has put together back-to-back wins and is spearheaded by Damian Lillard — a 30.7 PPG player, which rests at No. 8 in the NBA. Beyond Lillard's All-Star campaign, there's Anfernee Simons (21.7) and Jerami Grant (21.2).
The Trail Blazers are obviously a sufficient offensive team. They rank top ten in shooting, three point and free throw percentages. It's the poor turnover (15.0) and rebound (42.2) rates that bite them.
Even though the spread is set at 3.5, both the Wizards and Trail Blazer (25-26) sit outside of their respective playoff conference pictures.
Shooting 48% from the field, Washington features a more evenly disbursed top three: Kristaps Porzingis (22.0), Bradley Beal (22.0) and Kyle Kuzma (21.8). Porzingis is leading the Wizards with 8.8 RPG and is shooting at 47%.
Here's why NBA First Basket suggested that Porzingis (or Kyle Kuzma) are wise bets to score the first basket of the game Friday:
Drew Eubanks (33% opening tip win rate) will face off against Kristaps Porzingis (78% win rate) on the opening tip-off. Porzingis, who is 7-foot-3 should control the tip against Eubanks who is just 6-foot-9.
The Wizards have scored first in 56% of their games this season and their first basket scoring is fairly well distributed amongst Porzingis, Kyle Kuzma, Bradley Beal and Daniel Gafford. The Trail Blazers have scored first in 49% of games this season, but when Eubanks jumps at center that number drops to 18%.
A couple of odds really stood out when looking at this one. I like the matchups for Porzingis and Kuzma, so I’ll take them to score first tonight.
At +600 odds, this is a fun play for a promotion bet. We suggest longshots in these times; it's better for your pockets in the long run.
Let's suppose we deposit $100 and bet on Porzingis to draw first blood after tipoff.
This bet pulling through would result in a $700 payout. In the case someone else scores first, it's $100 back in bet credits.
BetMGM Bet Credits
Imagine BetMGM as that friend next to you on the couch that spots you a bet. You'll get the profits of the bet if you win and they'll keep the stake (the bet credits). Losing the bet will work the same way as the friend analogy too, there's just no shameful Venmo payment for all to see.
We'll split off $100 and use it on Hawks +1.5 against the Suns at 10 p.m. Chris Baker emphasized this play in our Wednesday NBA expert picks:
Assuming the Trail Blazers-Wizards game is over before the 9 p.m. tipoff between the Hawks and Jazz (the bet credits appear after the bet settles), let's look to Chris Baker's play on the over:
I would lean toward the over tonight as I expect both offenses to be efficient and play fast in this spot. Kelly Olynyk will have the ability to stretch out Clint Capela and open up driving lanes with his 3-point shooting. On the flip side, Olynyk should struggle in pick and roll coverage against Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. These offenses should do enough to get us over 240.5.
We'll combine this in a same game parlay with the Hawks to cover at -1.5 for odds of +257 (we suggest keeping your odds plus for when using bet credits). Say we place all $100 worth of bet credits on this.
If the bet should hit, we'd see back a profit of $257 and the $100 goes away. A loss would mean the last of our $100 and we are back to ground zero.
