Bryce Mitchell is the highest level grappler faced by Jean Silva thus far in his young career. Averaging 3.4 takedowns per 15 minutes on just 43% accuracy displays just how relentless Mitchell can be, and will need to be, in order to ground the dangerous Silva. This fight is binary in nature, and Mitchell truly has only one path to derailing the Silva hype train.

Silva is a -225 favorite, down from -265 earlier in the week, as hardcore MMA bettors have yet to shake off the thoughts of a similar matchup on last week’s card in Joanderson Brito and Pat Sabatini. In that fight, the grappling edge was too big of edge for the favored fighter to overcome.

However, Jean Silva has proven to better prospect in my estimation than Brito. Silva is highly accurate, very patient, and fights with a calm nature that allows him to explode into strikes for the duration of any three round contest.

Interestingly, in the takedown market, Mitchell is lined at over/under 2.5 takedowns. It is not something you may see often for the fighter with a plus sign next to his name as the underdog. This is indicative of just how dangerous Silva can be, with any opening possibly being the one needed for him to finish the fight.

Silva is not just accurate with his strikes but his timing is impeccable. The variety of strikes in Silva's arsenal are quite impressive, with uppercuts and knees undoubtedly included in the potential fight-enders Silva can unleash.

This will play a major factor against Mitchell since Silva knows exactly what will be coming his way, and you can be sure it is something the Fighting Nerds have drilled repeatedly.

Mitchell vs. Silva Prediction

The discrepancy between Silva’s moneyline and inside the distance price is too wide.

If Mitchell cannot execute his gameplan for the vast majority of the fight, Silva is going to find an opening and deliver his fifth consecutive knockout. Given that the price between Silva’s knockout method and inside the distance is negligible, we will account for the club and sub by betting on the red-hot prospect’s odds to finish the fight.

The best way to do so is through a Same Game Parlay at ESPNBet, combining Silva's moneyline and the fight to end inside the distance. That gets you to a total of +100 odds, though I'd take the bet down to the -115 line available at FanDuel.

John's Pick: Jean Silva Moneyline and Fight Ends Inside the Distance SGP +100 (ESPNBet)
