Ferreira is one of the most popular underdogs on this card. He has won four of his five bouts in the UFC, with all four of those wins coming by first-round KO/TKO.
So, why the plus money return on Ferreira? Because, relative to his peers, he isn't very good.
He carries a ton of power, so the odds have to keep this fight closer to a pick'em due to the chance he does catch Magomedov. However, the latter has been knocked out just once over the past half-decade, and that was to former champion Sean Strickland.
With all due respect to Ferreira, he is nowhere near that level of striking.
The game plan for Ferreira is quite simple: He leaves everything on the table right off the jump, looking for that quick knockout as his power is his greatest ability in the octagon. If that power doesn't put away Magomedov in the opening frame, then this fight will likely go the other way.
Magomedov vs. Ferreira Pick
Oddsmakers agree, which is why Magomedov is the favorite. I trust Magomedov's chin to weather Ferreira's violence in the first round, and if this fight goes past then, then it should be all Magomedov.
Ferreira possesses a limited gas tank due to how he leaves everything out there in the first round. Once he is gassed, the door opens for Magomedov to get the job done in Rounds 2 or 3.
Fourteen of Magomedov's 26 professional wins have come by KO/TKO, so he obviously carries the power. Meanwhile, Ferreira's lone loss came by KO/TKO to Nursulton Ruziboev, who doesn't carry as much power as Magomedov.
The game plan here seems simple for Magomedov, and that is to weather the storm in the opening round and then capitalize against a winded Ferreira over the final 10 minutes.
