Check out the latest F1 odds and British Grand Prix predictions and picks for the race on Sunday, July 7, with bets on Lando Norris, Pierre Gasly and Lewis Hamilton.
Last weekend’s F1 race in Austria was a thriller at the front of the pack as Lando Norris and Max Verstappen battled for the victory before contact ruined each's chance for the race win. George Russell came from third to take the top prize.
Verstappen had a respectable lead in Austria. However, Norris was able to close on Verstappen due to a tire advantage and an issue for Red Bull on pit road. The gap between these two teams is still relatively small, and this weekend we will head to England, which may tip the scales in McLaren’s favor.
Silverstone is a track where high downforce comes into play, which we'll see on Sunday morning for the 2024 F1 British Grand Prix (10 a.m. ET, ESPN2 & ESPN+). Multiple groups of corners on this track need to be taken at full speed with little braking. This is a strength of the McLaren car and may be enough to help them break through and score a race victory over Red Bull this weekend.
As of this writing, there is a 25% chance on Saturday and a 70% chance on Sunday – with a 50% chance on Friday. If the rain does hit, look for cars with higher downforce, including McLaren, to perform better.
Verstappen is still the odds-on favorite to win the F1 British Grand Prix on Sunday, but other drivers getting into the mix seems to be more possible than most thought at the beginning of the season. Here are the current odds to win the F1 British Grand Prix from FanDuel as of Thursday:

F1 Odds: British Grand Prix Picks & Predictions
Lando Norris To Win
As mentioned above, Silverstone is a circuit for which McLaren should be well-suited. I thought they would succeed in Austria due to the elevation change neutralizing their high drag, but it seems like that was still a bit of an issue. That won’t be the case in Great Britain, however, as this track doesn’t have any long straights and is more focused on cornering ability.
Last season this was the race where everything turned around for McLaren. After struggling mightily for the first portion of the season, they finally broke through in Silverstone with both of their cars starting in the top three. Norris wasn’t able to truly challenge for the victory but finished second d while Oscar Piastri was just edged out for a podium position, finishing fourth.
Norris and Piastri have been right on the heels of Red Bull for a couple of months now. Last weekend they weren't better than Verstappen, but they were just behind him, threatening him for the lead in the sprint before the incident going for the win in Sunday's race.
After lingering on the podium for awhile, this weekend could provide a chance at redemption for Norris as he looks to rebound from Austria's accident.
I’d argue that Lando should be the favorite in this race despite Verstappen likely being the most talented driver in F1 at the moment. McLaren’s car is so perfect for this circuit that I would expect an extremely strong weekend for both Norris and Piastri as a double podium finish could be in play.
The Picks: Lando Norris to Win (+300 at BetRivers) | Bet to +240
Pierre Gasly Points Finish
After getting off to a dreadful start, Alpine has rebounded into being the fifth- or sixth-best team on the grid over the last few weeks. This has gotten them up to eighth in the Constructor Standings as they will look to keep climbing.
Alpine has the highest downforce among the cars toward the back half of the grid and should excel here. In Austria, they were surprisingly efficient as drag became less of an issue for them. This led to both drivers qualifying in the top 10 for the sprint race and Gasly finishing in 10th in the Austrian Grand Prix.
I think that the Alpines are well-suited for Silverstone and can make moves against this weekend as they battle for points. As of late, Gasly has been outdueling Ocon and is the driver sticking around on the team next year, so I would feel better backing him over Ocon at similar prices.
The Picks: Pierre Gasly Points Finish (+150 at BetMGM) | Bet to +130
Lewis Hamilton vs Charles Leclerc
Behind Verstappen and McLaren, I expect Mercedes to have another strong weekend. They once again were faster than Ferrari in Austria, and I think they have now set themselves apart as having the third-best car on the grid.
Following the accident among the top two drivers last weekend, George Russell was running well enough to take the win from third. Lewis Hamilton didn’t fare quite as well in the race after sustaining some damage and fading back, but he was still competitive all weekend. Even when Mercedes has been struggling over the last two years, Hamilton still always performs better than expected at his home track.
Mercedes has been more aerodynamically efficient than Ferrari lately and seems to have fixed their issues from the beginning of the season. Like McLaren, I think that this Mercedes car is well-suited for Silverstone, and it should be in contention toward the top of the grid.
I believe that Lewis and Hamilton will both battle for a podium spot this weekend and are much better suited for this circuit than Ferrari. With that said, you can get Lewis Hamilton in a head-to-head matchup with Leclerc at -175 right now, which I like taking despite the longer odds.
