Death, taxes and the Daytona 500 weather forecast showing rain ahead of NASCAR's "Great American Race."
Last year's Daytona 500 was postponed from Sunday to Monday due to rain and there's enough concern about today's weather for NASCAR to move the start of the race from 3 p.m. ET to 2 p.m. ET (FOX) in an attempt to get ahead of potential precipitation.
Unfortunately for fans and NASCAR bettors, the updated Daytona 500 weather forecast is getting worse as Sunday's green flag nears.
Let's take a look.
Daytona 500 Weather Forecast
*Forecast updated as of Sunday morning
As recently as Saturday evening, the chances of rain on Sunday in Daytona sat at 50%.
But as I mentioned above, those chances have increased to 70% just hours ahead of today's scheduled 2 p.m. ET green flag.
The morning looks dry with the chances of rain sitting between 4-8% until 12 p.m. ET.
However, that's when the precipitation potential begins to spike.
Rain chances increase to 22% at 1 p.m. ET, to 48% at 2 p.m. ET and again to 65% at 3 p.m. ET.
At 4 p.m. ET we see a drop to 55%, which then dips quickly to just 8% by 6 p.m. ET.
The good news is that even if the Daytona 500 is delayed, there should be plenty of time to get the track dry and the full 500 miles completed under the lights, if needed.
For those wondering, the Daytona 500 will be official at the half-way mark, which is once cars complete lap 100 of the scheduled 200 laps.
Daytona 500 odds show Kyle Busch as the race favorite at 9-1, followed by Denny Hamlin (11-1), Ryan Blaney (11-1), Joey Logano (11-1) and Chase Elliott (11-1) at DraftKings Sportsbook.
