The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season concludes with Sunday's Championship Race (3 p.m. ET, NBC) at Phoenix Raceway.
For those who may be new to NASCAR, there are four drivers eligible to win the championship — Ryan Blaney, Tyler Reddick, William Byron and Joey Logano — with the highest finisher of the four earning the title.
When it comes to NASCAR odds to win the championship, Blaney is the favorite at +150, followed by Joey Logano (+240), William Byron (+270) and Tyler Reddick (+600) at bet365.
Sure, we still have the entire suite of available markets that we do during non-championship races, but what fun would it be to bet on a driver not among the Championship 4?
Below is my NASCAR Cup Series championship pick, including how I'm betting him Sunday at Phoenix.
NASCAR Championship Pick for Phoenix
*NASCAR odds as of Sunday morning
Ryan Blaney is my pick hoist the championship trophy today at Phoenix and a poor qualifying effort is providing us with quite a discount.
As mentioned above, Blaney is the championship favorite, but a 17th-place qualifying effort has shortened his price in a driver matchup against Team Penske teammate Logano.
Logano rocketed to a second-place starting spot in qualifying on Saturday, putting him well ahead of Blaney and resulting in oddsmakers tightening the price between these two drivers.
Specifically, Blaney is listed at -125 (BetMGM) to finish ahead of Logano today — a price I'm buying.
While the No. 12 Ford will start mid-pack, Blaney is a master at long-run speed at this track, evidenced by posting the fastest five-, 10- and 15-lap averages in practice on Friday.
This is a long race, and while Logano will be tough, I'm taking the best driver and what projects to be the fastest car in our final pick of the 2024 NASCAR season.
