Following a night race on dirt at one of the NASCAR circuit’s smallest tracks, the Cup Series will race on pavement during the day at Talladega Superspeedway, which is the circuit's largest track.
Talladega is synonymous with pack racing, meaning Sunday's GEICO 500 (3 p.m. ET, FOX) should be very exciting, but also quite unpredictable.
With this in mind, I tend to bet fewer NASCAR driver matchups at superspeedway races while also leaning heavily toward the underdogs in those that I do bet.
And that's exactly where I'm going for my favorite featured matchup bet for Sunday's GEICO 500 at Talladega.
NASCAR Betting Pick for Talladega
*Odds as of Tuesday morning
I love betting on Joey Logano at superspeedway races, but in this instance, I actually prefer Brad Keselowski at -110 in a matchup against his former Team Penske teammate.
Talladega has always been a great track for Keselowski, who has six career Cup Series wins, including in this race on year ago at this track.
In addition, Keselowski also had arguably the best car in the Daytona 500 earlier this year, which was the first superspeedway race run with the new Next Gen car.
At Daytona, Kez posted the best average running position, led the most laps and finished with the second-best driver rating.
Projecting finishing position at a track like Talladega is extremely difficult, but based on his history here and the speed at Daytona, it's very likely that Keselowski will be among the top cars on Sunday afternoon.
Because of this, the -110 price tag is an enticing one in this matchup against Logano.
The bet: Keselowski (-110) over Logano
