Stop me if you've heard this before: Rain was in the NASCAR weather forecast for Sunday's Cup Series race.
The threat of rain was simply too great for Sunday's Crayon 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
As a result, the rescheduled Crayon 301 now takes place today – Monday, July 17 – with an early start time. The full race airs on USA at noon ET (9 a.m. PT).
There was little reason for optimism when looking at Sunday morning's weather forecast.
NASCAR Weather Forecast for New Hampshire
Simply put, Sunday's NASCAR weather forecast for New Hampshire was an ugly one. Thankfully, Monday looks much better.
According to the National Weather Service, there was a 100% chance of rain at the track during Sunday afternoon, including showers and thunderstorms.
In fact, they called for two to three inches of rain on Sunday, which obviously did not bode well for racing.
Additionally, New Hampshire Motor Speedway does not have lights, meaning NASCAR had a very tight window to get the Crayon 301 started (or restarted if delayed) before the sun set in Loudon anyway.
Monday's NASCAR weather forecast for New Hampshire does look much better. It calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s to high-80s throughout the race.
Live NASCAR odds show Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Martin Truex Jr. and Christopher Bell as race co-favorites at +450, followed by Ryan Blaney (+950), Kevin Harvick (+1000), William Byron (+1100) and Denny Hamlin (+1100) at FanDuel Sportsbook.
