TCU vs. Dallas Baptist Pick
It has been quite the start for the Dallas Baptist Patriots, who come into this midweek matchup ranked 15th in the nation by D1Baseball.
The Patriots have an intriguing challenge in front of them tonight, as the TCU Horned Frogs will send Kole Klecker to the mound.
Klecker has had an up-and-down collegiate career. He burst onto the scene and dominated as a freshman, ultimately leading the TCU staff deep into the College World Series. However, 2024 was much different, as he posted a 5.96 ERA over 14 appearances.
This season, he's made only two appearances and thrown two clean innings.
If he's trusted for some length, the Patriots should get to him. It's hard to keep a lineup that ranks 44th in wRC+ and 40th in OPS in a hitter-friendly ballpark down for long.
On the other side of this matchup, DBU is set to hand the ball to Ryan Borberg. Borberg has been serviceable as a midweek starter, sporting a 4.02 ERA and averaging over a strikeout per inning without much regression in sight.
He should contain a TCU lineup that has shown flashes but has also gone quiet at times. Back the Patriots tonight, as they should bash their way to another home victory.
Pick: Dallas Baptist ML -110
UTSA vs. Texas Pick
I said that Texas teams hitting the ball well would be a theme tonight, and we have a pair of offensive juggernauts going head-to-head. The No. 8 Texas Longhorns host the 16-6 UTSA Roadrunners on Tuesday night.
While the Longhorns have made their living on the mound to this point, they've shown that they can swing it as well. They rank 45th in OPS and 70th in wRC+.
Texas gets to face junior James Hubbard, and to his credit, he's been very solid as UTSA's midweek starter. However, he has struggled a bit on the road.
Yet, the Roadrunners' bats have bolstered him, and that should be the case here tonight. UTSA has been raking, sitting sixth in team batting average and 13th in wRC+.
While much of their damage has come against subpar programs, the Roadrunners have slugged their way to wins over Texas A&M and Dallas Baptist.
Plus, UTSA gets to face one of the weaker links in the Longhorns bullpen in Drew Rerick.
Rerick enters this outing with a 5.06 ERA and is due for that to go up tonight. His xFIP of 6.53 and walks-per-nine rate of 6.8 paint a better picture of just how much he's been struggling.
In the end, expect Texas to lead the dance, but UTSA will go down swinging as this one goes over the total.
Pick: Over 12.5
