The college baseball season kicked off Friday night, and the Action Network projections led to a number of winners at the counter.

Reigning national champion LSU could not cover the run line with an inflated number against VMI, while Arkansas suffered the same fate after jumping out to an early lead against James Madison.

Baum-Walker Stadium was not the only location to trim runs off the scoreboard, as frigid temperatures impacted a number of totals.

On the bump, both Aiden May and Folger Boaz sizzled in their opening debuts for Oregon State and North Carolina, respectively.

Projections for sides are similar to the oddsmakers' process for building MLB lines. The ERA, FIP and xFIP are extrapolated over the expected innings for a starting pitcher. The remainder of the calculation comes from the same metrics prorated by the biggest contributors from the staff.

Totals follow a similar path with adjustments in regard to fielding percentage, park factors and calculated base runs. For the first month of the season, our projections will be based on numbers from the 2023 season.

Here are the remaining weekend projections for top-25 teams with experienced starting pitchers.
