Let's dive into the NC State Wolfpack vs. Georgia Bulldogs odds and make a prediction and pick in our college baseball Super Regionals betting preview for Monday, June 19.
This past Super Regional weekend was filled with heart-pumping plays and titanic comebacks, as seven teams punched their tickets to Omaha for the College World Series. Now, one spot remains.
The stakes could not be any higher in Athens on Monday night when NC State and Georgia play for the right to make their way to Charles Schwab Field.
The Wolfpack and Bulldogs have played two contrasting games thus far.
NC State took Saturday’s Game 1 by 17 runs, only to lose Sunday’s Game 2 to Georgia by nine runs. When handicapping Game 3, it's important to assess the current bullpen numbers with an abundance of offense expected.
NC State will have its best arms available from the pen, as sophomore Derrick Smith and freshman Jacob Dudan have combined for 47 appearances this seasons.
As for Georgia, closer Brian Zeldin was used to close up the Bulldogs' victory in Game 2 with 28 pitches over 2 1/3 innings. Senior Christian Mracna was used in every Regional game but has yet to make an appearance here in the Super Regional.
Zach Harris is expected to take the mound for Georgia, last starting in a Regional-clinching victory over Georgia Tech. The Georgia Southern transfer has a misleading ERA above 6.5 with an xFIP at 5.1.
The Wolfpack have won three straight when Logan Whitaker gets the nod, which is expected to happen again on Monday. However, the senior hasn't thrown more than 92 pitches since March 23.
Our projections, which are based on expected innings, ERA, xFIP and base runs, make Georgia a favorite of -260 with Harris starting and Marina and Zeldin pitching in relief.
NC State must continue its hitting from Game 1 after averaging a poor 7.6 runs per game.
The total projects at 17.5, a number NC State went over by itself on Saturday. Wind will be a non-factor, breezing at five mph or less at Foley Field.
Pick: Georgia ML -150
