It's no surprise that the College World Series championship series features two teams from the SEC.

This will be the fifth consecutive season the SEC will win the national championship, but the depth has really been on display when looking at the teams that have made this round. In fact, the SEC has populated 11 of the last 14 finals spots dating back to 2017.

Tennessee has made the championship round just once in program history — a loss to Oklahoma in 1951. The Volunteers will now look to break the curse of the No. 1 overall seed, which has not won a national title since 1999.

Tennessee survived the opening game against Florida State after trailing by five runs. Chris Stamos didn't last through the first inning before AJ Causey took the mound in relief. But ultimately, a check swing from Blake Burke was the critical call late in the game, as four runs in the bottom of the ninth won the opening thriller for Tennessee.

Texas A&M also needed the minimum three games to take down Bracket 2.

Despite injuries to star outfielder Braden Montgomery and starting pitcher Shane Sdao, the Aggies received two fantastic starts from Justin Lamkin against Florida.

Ryan Prager, meanwhile, shut down a red-hot Kentucky team, so head coach Jim Schlossnagle will have a fresh rotation and bullpen for the championship series.

Oddsmakers are in tune with the public appetite, as Tennessee has opened north of -160 in the opening game. However, our projections call for Prager to be a favorite of -145 against the combination of Stamos and Causey.

On Sunday, A&M's Lamkin is expected to throw on four days of rest once again in Game 2, projecting as a short favorite over Tennessee's Drew Beam.

If the series goes a third game, the Vols' Zander Sechrist would be a coin flip against the Aggies' Tanner Jones. These odds create a series price that favors Texas A&M at -140 to win the national title against Tennessee.

Those odds are powered by Prager's start in Game 1 due to the clear advantage he gives the Aggies. While Saturday’s starters have not been released, the opening Game 1 number has value through Texas A&M -120 if Prager starts. If he doesn't, that number moves to +110.

The totals for all pitching matchups range from 12.2 through 13.1, but this College World Series has been defined by elite pitching, defense and plenty of inbound wind.

The difference in wind in the first two games of this championship series matters.

Saturday’s Game 1 is expected to feature near 10 mph winds blowing out to center field — the first game in which the wind clearly gives an advantage to the batters.

The wind on Sunday and Monday returns to a familiar direction, blowing straight in from center and right field at just over 10 mph. Look for an over in the opener on Saturday with an under being the focus on Sunday and Monday if needed.
