Super Bowl 59 Odds Movement

Biggest Risers

Buffalo Bills

+1100 to +800

Yet again, the Bills have been the darlings of the national media — they must have forgotten how good Josh Allen really is. These odds have fallen from +1600 to its current mark of +800 after two blowout wins against two preseason postseason contenders. Allen leads the league in EPA/play + CPOE, the single biggest arbiter for the eventual MVP winner. It's no surprise that Allen is now the favorite to win NFL MVP, too.

Minnesota Vikings

+5000 to +3000

The Vikings are now, inexplicably, 3-0 on the backs of a resurgence from quarterback Sam Darnold, who is now the second-best favorite to win the Comeback Player of the Year, behind Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Darnold ranks No. 7 in EPA/play + CPOE and boasts the No. 7 offense in the NFL, taking garbage time out of the equation. It's the Vikings defense that has stepped up, though, as well. That unit ranks No. 5 in the NFL at EPA/play, behind the Steelers, Chargers, Bears and Seahawks, respectively.

The Vikings had been +8000 before Week 2 before barreling its way up to its current 30-1 mark.

Biggest Fallers

Cincinnati Bengals

+2000 to +2500

Only one team in the modern NFL playoff format have ever made the playoffs after starting 0-3. Another team — the 2013 Steelers — would have made it under the current seven-team format. Here sit the Bengals, two years removed from a Super Bowl, on the precipice from missing the playoffs just three games into the season.

Burrow, however, is little to blame for these foibles. He's played great, ranking No. 9 in EPA/play + CPOE, leading the NFL's fourth-ranked offense in the process.

It's the defense that's been abysmal, ranking fourth-to-last in EPA/play and giving up chunk play after chunk play. It's that unit that will have to get things right if the Bengals are to rebound this year.

Cleveland Browns

+5000 to +6600

Oh, boy. From an ethical perspective, the Deshaun Watson contract was abhorrent. Full stop.

Now, it makes no sense from a personnel perspective, either. The Browns rank dead last in offensive EPA/play and Watson has been the second-worst starting QB among eligible starters.

For what it's worth, his fully guaranteed contract could be voided if he's suspended again, which is within the realm of possibilities after yet another new lawsuit.

Miami Dolphins

+4000 to +6600

The Dolphins are on a downward spiral thanks to problems with the quarterback position — they might end up sporting a player off the practice squad in Tyler Huntley at QB after backup Skylar Thompson was hurt on Sunday. Miami has fallen from +2000 just two weeks ago to its current mark of +6600.

And starter Tua Tagovailoa is out for at least another three weeks after suffering his fourth registered concussion in five seasons — his fifth overall head injury.

Without Tagovailoa, the Dolphins looked hapless offensively vs. the Seahawks. But to be fair to them, the Seahawks have one of the best defenses in the league so far. Can Miami get right against the lowly Titans on Monday Night Football?

The Titans — which have one of the worst offenses in football — have become favorites for their matchup against the Dolphins despite opening as underdogs.
