We already know that poker is the most searched online casino game. It seems that the organizers of one of 2025’s first major tournaments will capitalize on that insight.
The Borgata Winter Poker Open will return in 2025 with new elements both in-person and online, thanks to BetMGM Poker.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa and BetMGM Poker announced that the 2025 event will take place from January 2 to 17 at the Borgata’s Central Conference Center.
The schedule includes 58 events with $5 million in guaranteed prize money. The highlight is the BWPO Championship, which offers a $2 million guarantee and a $3,500 buy-in.
Some Main Event Tournaments Come With Perks
The 58 events at this year’s Open will be split into two main parts: a "Main Event" schedule with 32 tournaments and a "secondary qualifier" schedule with 26 tournaments.
The Main Event schedule will feature the Borgata Winter Poker Open $2 Million Guaranteed Championship.
Players can enter tournaments for as little as $220, while the most expensive event, the $10,700 High Roller Experience, will include perks such as:
- A three-night hotel stay, a welcome party
- Breakfast buffet
- Massage therapy at the table
Most tournaments in this schedule have entry fees of $600 or less.
Secondary Tournaments Include High Rollers
The secondary schedule includes 10 smaller events and 18 satellite tournaments.
Entry fees mostly range from $155 to $515. However, this schedule also has some unique features, including:
- Several High Roller satellite events ($1,115 and $2,185 each)
- A $770 one-in-five qualifier for the BWPO Championship
- A Big 4 Qualifier
Borgata is also offering a $50,000 Borgata Winter Poker Open series leaderboard, with guaranteed prizes for the top 10 players.
Livestream Events Added This Year
BetMGM Poker will play a major role in the event, with one key highlight being the $100,000 BetMGM Online Hybrid Championship
This is one of 11 events that will be live-streamed during the festival. These include all major guaranteed tournaments, the final rounds of the $2,500 Heads Up Championship, as well as three other key events:
- The first-ever BetMGM Big League Live Stream Event
- The 10-10 PLO Live Stream
- The Ladies Pink Chip Live Stream
Players can register for it on the same day using the BetMGM Poker NJ app.
Online Poker Tournament Also Planned
On top of that, after its successful interstate poker launch in November between New Jersey and Michigan players, BetMGM Poker has planned an online championship event with a $100,000 guarantee for the 2025 BWPO.
The event, with a $1,000 entry fee, starts online on January 5 and concludes with a live-streamed final table at Borgata on January 9. This final will also be live-streamed.
