Boyd Interactive announced Monday that it had acquired Resorts Digital Gaming, adding to its New Jersey online casino presence.
Boyd Interactive, which was already operating Stardust Online Casino under the Borgata's license, acquired both ResortsCasino.com and MoheganSun.com, which are tethered to the Resorts Digital license. Boyd Interactive also acquired an unused online sports betting skin, with DraftKings currently the only digital sportsbook tethered to Resorts Digital.
"The acquisition of Resorts Digital Gaming is consistent with Boyd Gaming’s strategy of building a profitable regional iGaming business integrated with our existing nationwide portfolio," Boyd Interactive said in a statement. "New Jersey has long been one of the nation’s leading iGaming states, and we look forward to further growing our presence in that state’s online gaming market in partnership with Resorts Casino in Atlantic City."
“We are confident that this transaction will propel Resorts Digital’s proven success over the past decade to a new level through the scale of Boyd Interactive and its market-leading platform,” Resorts Casino president Mark Giannantonio said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press.
What Boyd Interactive Is Getting
Though the five online skins under the Resorts Digital umbrella combine to form one of the two largest revenue generators for internet casino gaming in the Garden State, the bulk of that revenue is generated by DraftKings. ResortsCasino.com has totaled $15.9 million in revenue through the first eight months of the year, while Mohegan Sun has the lightest revenue total of the quintet at $8.5 million.
The two online casino skins will continue to operate under the Resorts Casino license, which includes PokerStars and PENN Gaming in addition to DraftKings. The five operators combined for an all-time high of $51 million in revenue for August, the first time that category topped $50 million in a month.
Resorts Digital has totaled more than $2 billion in internet casino revenue since launching in February 2015, with $391.5 million coming this year. That has notably outpaced the Resorts Casino brick-and-mortar venue in Atlantic City, which has totaled $109.1 million in operator winnings in 2024 after claiming $16.1 million in August.
