DraftKings CEO Jason Robins told The Action Network on Friday that its mobile sportsbook app, available only in New Jersey, has taken more than eight million bets, an average of more than 62,000 bets a day, since it became available on Aug. 1.

The company, whose origins were in daily fantasy, has successfully pivoted to the legalized sports betting market, highlighted by it being the first mover in the online and mobile space in New Jersey.

"We didn't really have a target for revenue, but we had an idea what our betting volume would be," Robins said. "We're way above expectations. Probably three times what we projected."

Robins wouldn't disclose actual handle, but did say that the median bet was less than $10.

"That's exciting to us because it shows that there's a lot of mainstream, casual customers," Robins said.

Robins said DraftKings owns 60 percent of the online/mobile market in New Jersey and roughly 40 percent of the total market when including physical sportsbooks.

DraftKings' betting business is all in New Jersey, save for its sportsbook inside the Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D'Iberville, Miss., which opened last month. DraftKings opened a second retail location on Nov. 20 in Atlantic City at Resorts Casino.
