Electronic Table Games (ETGs) are rapidly becoming a staple on casino floors across the United States, Canada, and beyond. Once considered a mere novelty, these dealerless versions of classic casino games, including poker, have won over players and operators alike.

Thanks to significant technological advancements, ETGs are more appealing than ever, drawing larger crowds and increasing their share of the gaming market.

Meeting Post-Pandemic Needs

Electronic Table Games have been in casinos around the world for over twenty years, but one key factor driving their rise is their timely emergence in a challenging era for casinos. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, many casinos faced labor shortages and demand for gaming options that reduced face-to-face interaction.

ETGs stepped in at the right moment, offering an engaging and efficient alternative to traditional table games. Casino managers quickly realized the benefits, including lower operational costs and high player satisfaction, ensuring ETGs would remain a fixture on gaming floors.

According to an article in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the games are considered to be economically beneficial for casinos because they replace low-value tables. Many Vegas casinos have stopped offering $5 and $10 minimum bets at live tables because electronic table games can provide those bets without needing to pay a dealer—or three dealers at a craps table.

Strong Growth Projections

The financial prospects for ETGs are promising. Industry estimates suggest that revenue from these games could hit approximately $2 billion in 2024 and soar to nearly $3.5 billion by 2030. This substantial growth potential makes ETGs a sector to watch in the near and distant future.

Jackpot Digital is a key player in the ETG market. The company made significant strides by introducing its Jackpot Blitz® machines to U.S. tribal-owned Indian Gaming casinos, receiving positive initial feedback. In 2022, Jackpot Digital secured a Master Agreement with Penn Entertainment, the largest regional gaming operator in the U.S.

Additionally, Jackpot Digital has expanded its reach by signing several licensing deals with Indian casinos and a growing list of commercial casinos across the United States. The company is currently licensed at Seneca Gaming, and the tables are scheduled to be installed at Seneca's Salamanca property in Q2 2025.

In Canada, the company secured a Master Agreement with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, which runs seven casinos in the province.

Future Expansion Plans

In addition to Jackpot's cruise ship customers, which include Carnival Cruises, Princess Cruises, Holland America, AIDA, and Costa Cruises, Jackpot has announced land-based installations or orders in Canada and the U.S., including California, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Saskatchewan, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington, as well as several international jurisdictions.

Casinos in Maine can now add no-dealer poker tables to their floors, following the license approval of Jackpot Digital Inc. by the Maine Gambling Control Unit (MGCU).

Competition in the ETG Market

Other major gaming companies, such as Light & Wonder Inc. and International Game Technology PLC (IGT), are also incorporating ETGs into their product offerings. This growing interest from industry giants underscores the potential of ETGs to reshape the landscape of modern casinos.

With the continued evolution of gaming technology and shifting consumer preferences, electronic table games are poised to play an even more significant role in the future of the casino industry.

Electronic Table Games Provide New Options for Gamblers

As the gaming industry landscape transforms, Electronic Table Games are set to remain at the forefront of innovation and growth. By marrying advanced technology with the classic allure of casino games, ETGs have captured the imagination of players and provided a practical solution to the challenges casinos face in a post-pandemic world.

As companies like Jackpot Digital and industry leaders such as Light & Wonder and IGT continue to push the boundaries, the rise of ETGs reflects a broader trend toward a more modern, efficient, and interactive gaming experience.
