In honor of North Carolina's sports betting launch on Monday, the industry's two largest operators have launched a promotion that will guarantee bettors $50.

FanDuel is offering +100 odds on a point to be scored in Hornets vs. Pistons on Monday night. Meanwhile, DraftKings is permitting bettors to wager the same amount on the Hornets to record one or more points tonight. The max bet per user for each sportsbook is $50. Each sportsbook is hosting this promotion in conjunction with their ordinary new user promo, which will be announced at noon ET.

The Pistons are 4.5-point favorites at home against the visiting Hornets with the over/under set at 217.5 total points.

The two market leaders will be joined by six other sportsbooks in the state ahead of the start of the ACC Tournament on Tuesday. BetMGM, Caesars, bet365, ESPN BET, Fanatics and the newcomer Underdog Sports (after the first week) will join the fray. Underdog's foray is the first for the business, which had primarily been focused on daily fantasy sports.

The North Carolina is particularly important for operators, insofar that no other states plan to launch in 2024. That means this'll be perhaps the biggest single user acquisition event for sportsbooks until the start of the NFL season. And even then, a new state will yield more than picking off new users in existing states.

So, it stands to reason that FanDuel and DraftKings' Monday night promos may just be the start of a series of promos for users in North Carolina.
