A roulette dealer at Caesars New Orleans and another man were arrested and accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the casino through late bets.

A recent incident at Caesars New Orleans has led to the arrest of a Roulette dealer and a casino patron on allegations of theft.

The Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division is conducting an investigation into how the pair allegedly stole more than $10,000 through late betting.

It's an investigation that started nearly two weeks ago.

What Happened at Caesars New Orleans?

On April 8, detectives began investigating a theft case involving Margaret Lake, a 46-year-old Roulette dealer, and Ahmod Junius, a 23-year-old patron.

According to the State Police, Lake allowed Junius to place several late bets — bets made after the allowed time — which is a form of cheating.

The investigation culminated on April 11, when detectives executed search and arrest warrants at Junius' home in Violet, Louisiana. Both Junius and Lake were subsequently arrested and booked into the Orleans Justice Center. They face charges of theft ranging between $5,000 and $25,000.

Authorities have not disclosed the specific evidence that led them to conclude that Lake and Junius were involved in this scheme, but the investigation is still ongoing.

How Casinos Protect Against Theft

Casinos use a variety of methods to safeguard against theft and ensure fair play. These measures include:

  • Surveillance Systems: High-definition cameras are strategically placed throughout the casino floor to monitor activities and identify suspicious behavior.
  • Trained Security Staff: Security personnel are well-trained to detect and respond to cheating or theft. They work closely with floor supervisors and dealers to maintain a secure environment.
  • Dealer Protocols: Dealers follow strict protocols to prevent unethical conduct. They are trained to spot signs of cheating and must adhere to rigorous operational standards.
  • Technological Solutions: Many casinos use advanced software systems to track betting patterns and detect anomalies that may indicate cheating.
  • Internal Audits: Casinos regularly conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with industry regulations and identify any irregularities.

These measures are crucial in maintaining the integrity of gaming operations and protecting both the casino and its patrons.

Caesars New Orleans Will Remain Vigilant

The allegations against Margaret Lake and Ahmod Junius highlight the constant vigilance required in the gaming industry to prevent theft and cheating.

As the investigation continues, it will serve as a reminder of the importance of robust security measures in safeguarding casino operations.

If you're interested in playing roulette online, it's one of the games you'll often find at a sweepstakes casino, or an online casino in one of the states that have already legalized them, like Michigan and Pennsylvania.
