LeBron James and JJ Redick are teaming up to create a podcast called Mind the Game, a co-production of James' Uninterrupted production company and Redick's Three Four Two productions.
James and Redick would have been quite the pairing in the NBA: James loves having shooters to spread the floor and Redick had some of his best seasons playing with an elite passer in Los Angeles.
While we'll never know what the on-court chemistry would have looked like between the two, a two-minute clip of their first episode hints at a budding chemistry between the two when it comes to breaking down the X's and O's of basketball.
.@kingjames and @jj_redick are obsessed with basketball.
Consider their podcast, Mind the Game, a celebration of the sport as they discuss the state of the game, dissect X’s and O’s (like they do here), and wax poetic about the game they love. pic.twitter.com/lDf8ToVlHE

James has seen success in previous media ventures with his show The Shop, that co-stars his business manager Maverick Carter and a host of James' famous friends. Redick has rocketed to the top of the podcast space since joining the media sphere with The Old Man & The Three, his podcast with Tommy Alter (also a producer on The Shop) that often features current NBA players talking hoops.
The difference between those two shows and this new venture?
According to James, "This is for everyone who truly loves our beautiful game," he told user on social media while previewing a clip from the first episode. In a statement to The Athletic, James added that his only motivation with sports media projects is "whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with ‘Mind the Game.’ Everything doesn’t need to be designed for internet culture and clicks.”
