It has to be the best dime this lucky blackjack player ever dropped.
A man, only identified as Angel Y., hit a rare triple 7 of the same suit playing Triple 7 Blazing Blackjack and won a massive jackpot of over $400,000. And he did it on a bet of only $0.10.
The monumental win happened at the Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville, Mississippi.
When the lights dimmed and the bells went silent, Angel cashed out a $401,620 jackpot.
We don’t know Angel’s last name, but we do know that, according to a casino spokesperson, he lives on the Mississippi Coast.
The casino did post his picture with a giant check on its Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
He’s standing in front of his winning machine and the post reads: “Let’s give a round of applause to Angel Y. for hitting a monumental $401,620 jackpot with Three Seven-of-Diamonds on Triple 7 Blazing Blackjack”, Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville posted.
Blazing 7s is a side bet in blackjack that pays when the first cards dealt are 7s.
How To Win The Blazing 7’s Progressive
The 7's-themed side bet is entirely independent of your hand against the dealer. It’s a game within the game.
To start each round, each player places a standard Blackjack bet and has the option to make a Blazing 7’s Progressive bet.
The Blazing 7’s Progressive uses both the player’s first two cards and the dealer’s up-card. If there are one or two 7s in the player’s first two cards, they win a payout. If the player has two 7s and the dealer's up-card is also a 7, the player qualifies for one of the three Blazing 7’s Progressive Jackpot payouts, except for the Three Mixed 7’s payout.
What The Blazing 7’s Progressive Pays Out
Below are two pay tables describing different methods for awarding the progressive jackpot. Additionally, players receive smaller payouts for hitting one or two 7s, alongside larger prizes.
Pay Table Type 1:
- 777 of the same suit: Progressive Jackpot
- 777 of the same color: 10% of the current progressive
- 777 of any color or suit: 200 to 1
- Any 2 sevens: 25 to 1
- Single 7: 2 to 1
Pay Table Type 2:
- 777 in Diamonds: Progressive Jackpot
- 777 of the same suit: 10% of the current progressive
- 777 of the same color: 500 to 1
- 777 of any color or suit: 200 to 1
- Any 2 sevens: 25 to 1
- Single 7: 2 to 1
Since Pay Table Type 2 makes it more challenging to win the progressive, the jackpot has the potential to grow higher than in Pay Table Type 1 before being claimed.
But the odds of hitting it are astronomical. Here’s the breakdown.
- Three Diamond 7’s: 0.000004%
- Three Suited 7’s: 0.000015%
- Three Colored 7’s: 0.000068%
- Three 7’s: 0.0003% of the time
- Two 7’s: 0.005% of the time
- One 7: 14.2% of the time
Nonetheless, whether you're playing blackjack at a local casino or online for real money, adding a side bet can significantly enhance the excitement of the game. Just remember to play responsibly.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Casinos on Hot Streak
Angel Y's is the 19th jackpot paid out since March at a Mississippi Gulf Coast casino. In fact, the Scarlet Pearl Casino had three in one day on June 28, totaling $234,979.
Angel's big win comes on the heels of a huge slot machine jackpot win in South Mississippi. On November 14, Jack Boswell from Panama City Beach, Florida, won $122,029 at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi. He was playing the Buffalo Cash slot machine, betting 10 cents per play, and hit the jackpot after about 40 minutes with a $20 bet.
So, miracles do happen, and some winners, like Angel Y., come out shining bright like a diamond playing blackjack. In his case, it's 7 of diamonds.
