A Las Vegas man hit a life-changing jackpot of more than $945,000, and he has his wife to thank.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, is now affectionately called the 'Lucky Local.' He was playing at Rampart Casino, an off-the-strip location.
After playing the penny slots for about 10 minutes, the man quickly ran out of money.
So, he called on his wife to replenish his bankroll. She dug a $20 bill out of her purse and handed it to him. He decided to keep playing, which was a life-changing decision.
I think after this, she’ll forever be known as 'The Better Half.'
Dollar Storm Hits For $945,000 Jackpot
He chose the Dollar Storm slot machine, betting $1 on two-cent denominations, and made the most of this second chance. A few spins in, and the lights went off, as did the bells and whistles. He had hit the jackpot.
When the excitement died, he realized that the extra 20 bucks he invested won him $945,119.00.
"We’re especially thrilled when our local community members experience such life-changing moments,” said Michelle McHugh, the resort’s vice president and general manager (in a statement).
What's Missing From This Picture?
Although the winner chose to maintain privacy, he did agree to a commemorative photo, in front of his winning machine, with his face obscured. It’s one way to mark the momentous occasion.
One thing is for sure, by the looks of the picture, The Lucky Local is a Las Vegas Raiders fan. Maybe his luck will rub off on them next.
