Turning a $1 investment into a jackpot worth over $300,000 doesn't happen often, but it did for a Louisiana man playing poker at a Mississippi casino.

The man, identified only by his first name, Kenneth He was at the IP Casino Resort in Biloxi, playing Pai Gow Poker and won on a $1 progressive bet.

The resort even posted a picture of Kenneth on its X account.

Lucky Streak Continues in Biloxi with Huge Payouts

This is the third jackpot of $100,000 or more at IP Casino since June. It’s the 16th jackpot at Biloxi area casinos in 10 months.

Biloxi is having a year when it comes to giving away big jackpots.

You may remember when YouTube celebrity Jason Jensen fled to Biloxi to escape Hurricane Milton in Florida and struck it rich.

Biloxi Has Always Been a Gambling Hotspot

For years, Biloxi was a hub for an underground gambling scene, with illegal casinos thriving in secrecy. As early as 1847, 'The Playground of the South' drew visitors eager to try their luck.

Thanks to its proximity to Louisiana, early Mississippi mirrored the gambling landscape of its neighbor, despite such activities being illegal. This did little to deter gambling enthusiasts throughout the 1900s.

Take the Broadwater Beach Resort, for instance. It offered open gambling in the 1940s until sometime in the 1950s, even though it wasn’t legalized.

The landscape shifted dramatically in the early 1990s with the legalization of casino gambling, brought about by the Mississippi Gaming Control Act.

Biloxi's casinos are now an integral revenue-generator for the city.

12 Casinos Within 26 Miles of Biloxi

Biloxi is often referred to as the 'poor man's Las Vegas,' but it offers some unique attractions that set its gaming scene apart from both Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Its convenient location within driving distance of several states makes it easily accessible. Moreover, Biloxi features a beach, providing a warmer and more relaxed atmosphere compared to the shores of Atlantic City.

These days there are eight casinos in Biloxi, and three more within 25 miles of the city and another just about a mile beyond that.

If that’s not enough, there are more on the way.

The city is on the verge of building two new casinos just a few blocks away from each other.

So, whether you’d like to hang out and try your luck in Biloxi proper, or take your gambling adventure down the shore to Bay St. Louis, you have options.

You never know, you might hit a jackpot like Kenneth did. And it only cost him $1. You can even practice before you go by trying some of the best free casino games you can find online.
