Pennsylvania online casinos have once again set a new standard for the US iGaming market.

They smashed last month's record by generating approximately $294 million in revenue in March. This broke the national record of $281 million, which Pennsylvania itself set in December.

The increase proved that despite a slow start to the year, the appetite for online gaming is still strong.

A Record-Setting March

March was a remarkable month for Pennsylvania online casinos. Revenue jumped by 12% compared to February and a staggering 26% compared to March last year.

This powerful performance in March is noteworthy given the sluggish growth in January and February.

For the first quarter of 2025, the industry generated roughly $824 million. To provide some perspective, this is a considerable increase from the $638 million generated in the same period last year.

The consistent upward trend suggests that the industry is rapidly approaching the $1 billion mark, which is likely to be achieved later this month, a full month ahead of its 2024 milestone.

Things may only get better if lawmakers successfully shut down sweepstakes casinos as well.

Breakdown of Revenue Sources

Pennsylvania’s impressive numbers in March skew heavily towards online slots, which brought in approximately $235 million. Table games also made a significant contribution, accounting for $56 million in revenue.

Online poker, although not as massive a contributor, still added approximately $3 million to the total. Each of these segments plays a critical role in the overall success of Pennsylvania’s online casinos.

Online Casinos in Pennsylvania Went Live in 2019

Pennsylvania's journey in the realm of online casinos started in 2017 when the state legalized online gambling as part of a broader gambling expansion package. This move positioned Pennsylvania as a pioneer among U.S. states that have ventured into online gaming.

In 2019, the first online casinos went live, and the market has continued to grow exponentially since then. The state's strategic approach and regulatory framework have fostered a highly competitive and lucrative online gambling environment, attracting numerous operators and players alike.

Pennsylvania's Online Casinos Expected To Remain Strong

March 2025 was a landmark month for Pennsylvania's online casinos.

The impressive revenue growth highlights the state’s dominant position in the US iGaming market, surpassing even New Jersey and Michigan, which also reported record revenues. As the industry continues to mature, Pennsylvania's online casinos are well-positioned to maintain their lead, driving innovation and setting new benchmarks in the gaming world.
