One lucky player started the week on the right foot and defied all of the Blackjack odds at a casino in Massachusetts.

According to a report from Heather Morrison with Masslive.com, the person, who wishes to remain anonymous, was at the MGM Springfield casino and turned a $5 bet into a jackpot worth more than $250,000. The person was playing Super 4 Progressive Blackjack at the time.

The player won a total of $250,347.70.  The player revealed a hand featuring an ace, king, queen, jack and 10 of the same suit.

The payouts for the Super 4 Progressive wager are determined by specific card combinations, but the Royal Flush in Diamonds wins 100% of the Star Progressive jackpot. So, the player beat massive odds to land the top prize — the progressive jackpot.

It doesn't top the huge Super 4 Progressive side bet a Blackjack player recently hit in Connecticut, but it's definitely worth talking about.

What is Super 4 Progressive Blackjack?

Super 4 Progressive Blackjack is a special side bet you can place while playing a regular game of Blackjack. The standard house rules apply to the main Blackjack game, but this side bet offers an exciting twist. Here's how it works:

  • Starting the Game: You place your regular Blackjack bet and have the option to place an additional wager for the Super 4 Progressive Blackjack side bet.
  • Card Dealing: After placing bets, each player is dealt two cards. The dealer also receives cards following the usual Blackjack rules.
  • When the Dealer Has a Blackjack: If the dealer's hand is a Blackjack, your two cards combined with the dealer's cards form a four-card hand. This combination is checked against a pre-set pay table to determine if you win the side bet.
  • When the Dealer Has an Ace: If the dealer's visible card is an Ace but does not result in a Blackjack, your hand is evaluated, and you could qualify for a payout based on the pay table.
  • When the Dealer Has No Blackjack and No Ace: If the dealer doesn’t have Blackjack or an Ace showing, the Super 4 Progressive bet is lost.
  • After Resolving the Side Bet: The game continues with regular Blackjack rules.

Super 4 Progressive Blackjack Payouts

The payouts for the Super 4 Progressive wager are determined by specific card combinations and are listed as follows:

  • A Royal Flush in Diamonds wins 100% of the Star Progressive jackpot (like the one the player at MGM Springfield hit).
  • A Royal Flush in any other suit also wins 100% of the Star Progressive jackpot.
  • Three of a Kind wins 100% of the Heart Progressive jackpot.
  • A Straight wins 100% of the Diamond Progressive jackpot.
  • A Flush can earn you $250.
  • Two Pair may bring a reward of $200.
  • All cards being the same color leads to a win of 100.
  • A simple Pair rewards you with $50.
  • A dealer Blackjack with no other hand earns $25.
  • A dealer showing an Ace without Blackjack results in a payout of $10.

This betting option adds extra excitement and potential rewards to the game. It's also appealing to those who enjoy a chance at larger payouts.

Hone Your Blackjack Strategy Online

Playing Blackjack online at a sweepstakes casino or an online casino in a legal state offers an opportunity for players to hone their strategy and skills.

Studying the Blackjack odds and strategizing your next move becomes easier in the casino if you hone your strategy by playing the game online.

By engaging in online games, players can practice at their own pace, experiment with different strategies, and learn from their mistakes without the pressure of a live casino environment.

However, it's crucial to gamble responsibly by setting limits on time and money spent, ensuring that gaming remains a fun and enjoyable activity without negative consequences.
