Poker aficionados have something big to look forward to in May. The WSOP schedule is getting serious.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Tournament of Champions is expected to be a high-stakes affair from May 15-17 at The Commerce Casino & Hotel, drawing in only the crème de la crème of the poker world.

This year’s Tournament of Champions comes with a twist—a $1 million free-roll limited only to players who have won a WSOP bracelet or a Circuit ring between June 2024 and May 2025. This ensures that only the poker elite will be seated at the tables, competing for both prestige and the grand prize.

WSOP Circuit Series Sets The Stage

As a curtain-raiser to the main event, The Commerce Casino will set the stage with the WSOP Circuit Series, spanning May 8-24. Over 18 events will lead into the Tournament of Champions, boasting over $3.5 million in prize guarantees capped by a $2 million main event. The anticipation is palpable, as players sharpen their skills and prepare for two thrilling weeks of poker.

"We are happy to return to The Commerce Casino & Hotel for the WSOP Tournament of Champions and our 15th consecutive $1 million free-roll," WSOP CEO Ty Stewart said, expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming events. He likened the spectacle to "the opening ceremonies for the 2025 WSOP," highlighting this year’s $2 million Circuit Main Event as a key attraction.

History of the WSOP

The WSOP has deep roots in poker history, tracing back to Las Vegas in 1970 when it was conceived by Benny Binion. Once a modest gathering for top players, it has grown into a global phenomenon. The introduction of Circuit events in 2005 allowed the WSOP to expand its reach, giving players worldwide a shot at winning a coveted WSOP ring. The Tournament of Champions is the glorious culmination of each Circuit season, elevating the excitement of the annual WSOP series.

The Commerce Casino Boasts World's Largest Poker Room

The Commerce Casino, known as the world's largest poker room, is no stranger to hosting grand poker events. Tournament Manager Cavin Quintanilla is excited about the upcoming action, emphasizing the Casino’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the game while ensuring participants and spectators have a memorable experience.

Live streams of the Tournament of Champions will be available for those unable to make it to Los Angeles, allowing poker fans worldwide to witness the action as players vie for the prestigious title and the first WSOP bracelet of the year. A selection of side tournaments and satellite events will ensure non-stop poker thrills during the event.

WSOP Schedule Has Las Vegas Up Next

Following the Tournament of Champions, the poker action heads back to Las Vegas. Starting May 27 at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas, the WSOP will launch with Event #1, Mystery Millions. With a guaranteed $1 million for the top bounty and a minimum prize of the same amount for first place, it promises to attract both seasoned pros and eager newcomers across its five introductory flights.
