The Dodgers suffered a stunning collapse on Saturday, blowing a five-run ninth-inning lead before losing 11-9 to the Tigers in 10 innings.
Shohei Ohtani's brilliant day at the plate might be overshadowed by the result, but the betting markets took note. After hitting a triple and a home run on Saturday, Ohtani is now the betting favorite to win All-Star Game MVP on Tuesday.

Ohtani ripped a lead-off triple in the first inning, and then clubbed a solo homer in the fifth — his 29th of the season (the most in the National League) and 200th of his career.

The four-time All-Star and two-time AL MVP came close to notching his second career cycle (Ohtani became MLB's first Japanese-born player to hit for the cycle back in 2019), but ultimately finished the day 2-for-4. He’s now slashing .314/.398/.637 this season.
Ohtani’s odds to win All-Star Game MVP at general markets dropped from +1000 to +900 shortly after his home run, making him the betting favorite to win the award. New York's Aaron Judge (+1000), Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper (+1200) and Baltimore’s Gunnar Henderson (+1300) trail behind.
Ohtani, known for his two-way prowess, has solely featured for the Dodgers this season as a designated hitter while recovering from surgery performed last September to address a UCL tear in his right elbow. General markets list Ohtani as the clear favorite to win NL MVP (currently -380).
Despite Ohtani’s absence from the rotation, the Dodgers boast the NL’s second-best record at 57-39 and lead the NL West by eight games. With one game left before the All-Star break, Los Angeles remains the betting favorite to win the 2024 World Series.
General markets currently have the Dodgers at +340 to win the World Series, followed by the Phillies (+420), Yankees (+550), Orioles (+700) and Braves (+900).
