The Cowboys may have won the division and Dak Prescott had the best season of his career, but that's not what fans will remember last season for.

Dallas once again failed to deliver in the playoffs and now finds itself as an underdog to its rivals in Philadelphia. It's an important season for the Cowboys for many reasons.

Here's everything you need to know about the Cowboys this year.

Important Cowboys Betting Stats

Mike McCarthy is one of the most prolific head coaches to back in the betting market in NFL history, with a very impressive 162-124-7 record against the spread.

Prescott, meanwhile, has a respectable record himself at 65-54-2 against the number. Backup Cooper Rush is 5-1, while third-string QB Trey Lance is 2-2.

Cowboys Eye Another Division Title

Last season, Prescott led the Cowboys to an NFC East championship and a home playoff game.

Now, just six months later, there’s huge pressure on Dallas after an uneventful offseason and Prescott entering the final season of his contract.

Prescott is coming off his best NFL season. He finished second in the NFL MVP race, throwing 36 touchdowns to just nine interceptions. The Cowboys finished 12-5 but were trounced in the playoffs by the Packers, leaving a bad taste in fans’ mouths.

The main beneficiary of Prescott’s huge season: CeeDee Lamb, who at 24 years old had 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, all of which were career highs.

The biggest changes in the Dallas offense were on the offensive line and in the backfield. Veteran Tyron Smith is gone, and a slew of fresh faces will look to protect Prescott and guide the run game. Also gone is running back Tony Pollard, whose starting job looks like it may be split between Rico Dowdle and the returning Ezekiel Elliott.

Defensively, Dallas will be boosted by the return of cornerback Trevon Diggs, who only played two games last season. Veteran Leighton Vander Esch was released, while middle linebacker Eric Kendricks was added.

The star of the show on defense for Dallas, of course, is Micah Parsons, who like Prescott and Lamb is due for a new contract coming off a 14-sack season.

How To Back the Cowboys This Season

Despite an offseason that left fans underwhelmed, the Cowboys are still 18-1 to win the Super Bowl, which is tied for the ninth-lowest odds at FanDuel with the Jets and Packers.

If you’re a believer in the Cowboys and are skeptical that the Eagles’ big offseason changes will pay off, Dallas is +175 to retain its NFC East crown. With the Commanders and Giants seemingly in rebuilding mode, it’s a two-horse race.

2024 Cowboys Schedule Info

According to Action Network’s Sean Koerner, the Cowboys’ 2024 schedule is tied with the Seahawks as the 17th-hardest in the NFL.

This number is as high as it is because of the gauntlet of non-divisional contenders that Dallas will face since it’ll face the Giants and Commanders twice.

The Cowboys will face the Ravens, Lions, 49ers, Texans and Bengals this season, as well as the Browns, Steelers and Buccaneers, all three of which were playoff teams last season.

Dallas' Week 1 Odds & Matchup

The Cowboys will open the season on the road against the Browns. Dallas is a 1.5-point underdog with the game total sitting at 43.5.

This will be a good test early for Prescott, who was not as prolific last season on the road as he was at AT&T Stadium. He had a 120 Passer Rating at home compared to a 92.4 mark on the road.
