Important Packers Betting Stats
Matt LaFleur has been very good to bettors as head coach with a 53-37 record against the spread. Jordan Love is the only quarterback on his roster to have made a start in the NFL, and he's 12-8 against the spread in his career.
Everybody knows about the Packers offense, but that’s not going to be what determines how successful Green Bay is this season.
The Packers offense won’t look too different from the team that thrived late last season. Jordan Love will remain under center with four capable receivers (Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks) and two solid tight ends (Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft).
The biggest change on offense will be in the backfield, where Josh Jacobs replaces Aaron Jones. Green Bay also spent its first-round pick on offensive lineman Jonah Morgan out of Arizona.
It’s the Packers defense is going to look drastically different compared to last year. New defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley takes over after resigning as the head coach at Boston College. The hope is that he will take more advantage of the high-draft capital on the Green Bay defense.
The Packers ranked 27th in DVOA last season, despite having multiple first-round picks starting across the board. The feeling was that unit was holding back the Pack.
There is high-end talent on the Green Bay defense like edge rusher Rashan Gary, defensive tackle Kenny Clark, cornerback Jaire Alexander and newly acquired safety Xavier McKinney. There’s a lot of upside for this unit if Hafley can get it operating smoothly.
How To Back the Packers This Season
So, if Love is indeed the real deal and the defense proves to be capable, how far can the Packers go? Green Bay is 18-1 at FanDuel to win the Super Bowl and -152 to make the playoffs, the latter of which might be low enough that it’s worth your time and a wager.
According to Action Network's Sean Koerner, the Packers will face the 14th-most difficult schedule this season.
The Packers will face five playoff teams from outside of the NFC North: the Eagles, Rams, Texans, 49ers and Dolphins. Green Bay closes the season with matchups against four teams that didn’t not make the playoffs last season in Seattle, New Orleans, Minnesota and Chicago.
The Packers will open their regular season in Sao Paolo, Brazil, against the Eagles. Green Bay is a 1.5-point underdog, while the game total is 48.5.
