The Chiefs aren't going anywhere, and they may have gotten better since the Super Bowl.

Kansas City is once again the favorite to win the Super Bowl, as will be the case most years that Patrick Mahomes is teamed up with Andy Reid. The offense appears to have added more firepower this offseason to complement a defense that won the Chiefs another championship.

Here's everything you need to know about Kansas City before this season.

Important Chiefs Betting Stats

Mahomes is a solid 61-50-3 against the spread (ATS) in his career. It’s an impressive record for a quarterback who’s routinely favored and faces more double-digit spreads than anyone else in the league.

If Mahomes goes down, Carson Wentz is 45-49 ATS in his career.

More impressive is the record that Andy Reid has accrued over his coaching career. Between his head-coaching tenures in Philadelphia and Kansas City, Reid is 240-196-9.

Chiefs Offense Makes Key Additions

Despite winning the Super Bowl last season, the Chiefs showed plenty of room for improvement along the way, specifically on offense. Despite having Mahomes leading the way, Kansas City underwhelmed offensively sometimes.

Last season, Mahomes ranked 15th in the NFL in 15+ yard downfield completions, which was the lowest rank of his career. Why was that the case? Well, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson were his primary downfield threats.

The Chiefs were aggressive in addressing that this offseason. Marquise Brown was added in free agency, while Kansas City spent its first-round draft pick on wide receiver Xavier Worthy out of Texas.

Brown is a proven wide receiver who comes in with a strong pedigree from his stints in Baltimore and Arizona. He’s a veteran who should have no problem establishing a connection early on with Mahomes.

Worthy is an exciting prospect. His 4.2 speed is likely to provide an excellent downfield target for Mahomes and help reboot the Chiefs' explosive plays. His size could be a concern in creating separation at the line of scrimmage, but he could be devastating in the open field.

Adding those two was especially important because of Rashee Rice’s offseason. Rice ran into multiple legal issues and could be facing a suspension. Even if he misses a few games, the trio of him, Brown and Worthy should help Mahomes bounce back and lead the Chiefs' offense back to being known as one of the best in the NFL.

Kansas City does have the ever-reliable Travis Kelce, although he's 35 years old and showed signs of slowing down last season.

Isiah Pacheco has also established himself as a strong starting running back for the Chiefs who can step up in big games.

It'll be interesting to see how the Chiefs' offense shifts with two downfield targets in Brown and Worthy expected to take on such important roles.

Defensively, the Chiefs traded cornerback Charvarius Ward to the Titans since they were unable to pay him over the long haul.

Kansas City’s defense should still be able to hold up its end of the bargain this season.

How To Back the Chiefs This Season

In case you didn’t notice, there's a lot of optimism surrounding the potential resurgence of the Chiefs' offense. There are plenty of receiving weapons for Mahomes entering this season, and Kansas City is poised to mount a strong defense.

The Chiefs 'defense is what won the team its latest championship, though, so inflated totals early in the season could be attacked on the under side.

It'll be interesting to see how Kansas City looks early in the season, starting with the opener against the Ravens.

2024 Chiefs Schedule Info

The Chiefs will have the 23rd-hardest schedule in 2024, according to Action Network’s Sean Koerner.

Kansas City may have won the AFC West last season, but the Raiders and Broncos are unlikely playoff teams, while the Chargers should be competitive but not among the elite contenders.

The Chiefs will make trips to San Francisco and Buffalo this season and host the Bengals and Texans.

Kansas City Week 1 Odds & Matchup

The Chiefs will open the regular season with a rematch of the AFC Championship Game against the Ravens, although this time they’ll be playing at home.

Baltimore closed the AFC Championship Game as a 3.5-point favorite at home against Kansas City. This time around, it’s the Chiefs who are laying a field goal at home against the Ravens.

The total sits at 46.5, which ranks in the middle in terms of Week 1 odds.
