Important Giants Betting Stats
Jones is 32-29 in his career against the spread. Backup Drew Lock is 14-9, while Tommy DeVito was 4-2 against the number last season.
Brian Daboll, meanwhile, has been prolific for bettors since becoming the Giants head coach. Daboll is 22-13-1 in his head coaching career against the spread.
The Giants’ 2024 season will be about figuring out whether Daniel Jones is the team’s quarterback of the future.
Jones signed a four-year, $160 million contract after what looked like a potential breakout in 2022. The first year of that deal was a disaster, with Jones only playing in six games that saw him throw just two touchdowns to six interceptions.
After this season, there is no more guaranteed money on Jones’ contract. It would be quite easy for the Giants to end Jones’ time with the team and move on.
Not helping Jones this season is the fact that Saquon Barkley won’t be in his backfield. The Giants lost Barkley to the rival Eagles in free agency and replaced him with the dependable Devin Singletary in free agency. Singletary performed well in Houston last season but shouldn’t be expected to be a focal point like Barkley perennially was for the G-Men.
The Giants will hope to replace Barkley’s playmaking ability in the passing game with rookie Malik Nabers. The former LSU standout has stood out in training camp with some impressive catches from Jones. While Marvin Harrison Jr. was the consensus top receiver in the draft, some thought highly enough of Nabers to put him in the conversation. Whether he can single handedly propel Jones to a bounce-back season, though, is another story.
How To Back the Giants This Season
Believe it or not, the Giants were a playoff team two seasons ago — and they even won a playoff game! Jones was a force as a runner and competent as a passer with Barkley making plays alongside him.
There are more elite quarterbacks in the AFC than the NFC, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Giants find nine wins somewhere along the way this season and scramble in the playoffs.
New York is +410 to make the playoffs again. If you’re a believer in Jones and think the G-Men are poised for a major bounce-back season, that’s probably the way to go.
According to Action Network’s Sean Koerner, the Giants will face the 21st-most difficult schedule this season.
The Giants face two playoff teams from last season within their division, but the only other playoff teams they’ll face from last season are the Browns, Buccaneers, Steelers and Ravens. New York does have a matchup against the Bengals, who narrowly missed out without Joe Burrow last season.
If you’re a total pessimist about the Giants this season, you likely think Week 1’s matchup against the Vikings could go a long way in determining who gets the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft.
New York is a 1.5-point underdog in Week 1 at home against the Vikings, with a 41.5 game total that is the second-lowest of the week.
