The Chicago Bears had already locked up the first overall pick via the Carolina Panthers heading into Week 18, so the big question was who’d capture the second overall pick. The Patriots, Cardinals and Commanders were in contention, and when the dust settled, it’s Washington who’ll pick second.

The Commanders will reportedly blow everything up following another horrific season. Ron Rivera is likely on his way out, and their new head coach figures to have a large say in who they'll select. NFL Draft pundits believe drafting a quarterback is high on their list, with USC’s Caleb Williams and UNC’s Drake Maye favored to go first and second.

New England fell to the Jets in Bill Belichick’s possible swan song. The Patriots are also rumored to want a quarterback after Mac Jones’ disastrous season. LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon’s Bo Nix are currently projected as the next three quarterbacks to be selected. However, Penixs stock could skyrocket based on his performance in Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship game.

Early reports are that the Cardinals plan to move forward with Kyler Murray. However, draft experts believe Arizona would like to surround him with more weapons at the skill positions. Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is considered a generational talent, and is the heavy favorite to be the first non-quarterback taken.

The Chargers will pick fifth after a disappointing season that saw them fire their head coach and general manager. The Bolts have holes everywhere except at quarterback, so they could go any direction. That includes defense, where Florida State's Jared Verse is favored to be the first defensive player off the board.
