Much like the Chiefs in the AFC, the 49ers have become a perennial contender in the NFC under Kyle Shanahan. There are few teams that can match the talent San Francisco has on both sides of the ball.
Here's everything you need to know about the 49ers.

Important 49ers Betting Stats
Purdy has been a solid QB to back in his almost two full seasons as an NFL quarterback. He’s 15-12 against the spread so far.
Joshua Dobbs is 7-6-1 against the spread as a starter in his career, while third-string QB Brandon Allen is 5-4.
Kyle Shanahan is 66-60-1 in his head-coaching career against the spread.
The 49ers are in a state of flux during training camp and the preseason.
San Francisco is working through contract issues with two very key offensive contributors: left tackle Trent Williams and wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk.
Williams is familiar with contract issues and is hoping for an improved deal from San Francisco. He has no guaranteed money left on his contract and would like that adjusted even if his contract still has three years remaining. At 36 years old, Williams is still among the top left tackles in the NFL and a key part of protecting Purdy and clearing the way for Christian McCaffrey.
Then there’s Aiyuk, who has been one of the more high-profile storylines of training camp so far.
Aiyuk is coming off of a career-best season that saw his rack up 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games. He took on much more of a big-play-threat role in the 49ers offense, which led the way to the Super Bowl.
Otherwise, the 49ers roster remains quite similar. Deebo Samuel will play a crucial role on offense, while San Francisco spent a first-round pick on wide receiver Ricky Pearsall out of Florida.
On the other side of the ball, linebacker Dre Greenlaw tore his Achilles during the Super Bowl and will miss most of the season. The defense should remain a strength for San Francisco this season, though, with Nick Sorensen being promoted to defensive coordinator.
How To Back the 49ers This Season
If you think the 49ers are a well-oiled machine that cannot be stopped in the NFC, that’s pretty reasonable! They’re +600 to win the Super Bowl and while those odds are very low and betting them wouldn’t be considered a “sharp” bet, no one could blame you.
Purdy was much higher than this last season, but he’s 16-1 to win the NFL MVP this season. The 49ers gave him another weapon in Pearsall and will remain, as I mentioned above, a well-oiled machine on offense this season.
Purdy’s stats last year didn’t compare to past MVP seasons over the past 10 years, but he benefited from a clear-cut campaign from any other top quarterbacks. He lost the award with an interception-laden performance against the Ravens late in the season and was a real contender all the way until the end of the season. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that he does that again.
According to Action Network’s Sean Koerner, the 49ers will face the 15th-most difficult schedule in the NFL this season. The Rams rank 16th, while the Seahawks are tied for 17th and the Cardinals come in at 20th, so the NFC West matches up pretty evenly on this front this season.
Outside of facing the Rams twice, the 49ers will face face six other playoff teams from last season: the Chiefs, Cowboys, Packers, Bills, Dolphins and Lions.
The 49ers will debut the new season of Monday Night Football this year. They’re 5.5-point favorites agains the Jets, who will be led by the returning Aaron Rodgers.
