Eagles receiver A.J. Brown broke out in a big way in the NFC Championship Game, tallying 96 yards on six receptions (eight targets) with a touchdown as Philadelphia rolled over the Commanders en route to Super Bowl LIX.
Brown, however, was quiet over the Eagles' first two playoff games against the Packers and Rams, combining for just three receptions (10 targets) and 24 yards. He also had an uneven regular season as he dealt with a knee injury for parts of the campaign.
Can Brown stay hot against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl? Find out below how I'd bet on him in the Super Bowl receiving props market.
A.J. Brown Player Props
With all the talk around Saquon Barkley you’d be forgiven for forgetting about A.J. Brown. But the Eagles’ WR1 could be primed for a huge Super Bowl Sunday — there are two main reasons for this.
First, the Barkley effect. Barkley is without a doubt going to be a deciding factor in the game. We know that, the Eagles know that and you can be sure that Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo knows that.
The Chiefs have spent the past two weeks doing everything in their power to ensure that the running back doesn’t explode at the Super Bowl. That obsession with stopping Barkley could mean that the Chiefs sell out on stopping the run, which would let the Eagles' WR corps shine.
Then there’s the fact that the Chiefs are a good matchup for Brown, who is a stud against man coverag — he led the league in yards per route run. That becomes hugely important when you realize that the Chiefs are ranked 10th in man coverage usage at over 30%.
Brown's reception numbers haven’t been great over recent weeks but there are reasons for this. He was working his way back from injury against the Packers in the Wild Card Round and had to deal with snow against the Rams in the Divisional Round.
Against the Commanders in the NFC Championship Game, he caught six of eight targets for 96 yards and a touchdown. Most importantly, he looked healthier. Add in another two weeks of rest and he should be in a good place to contribute.
Brown has gone over 5.5 receptions in 11 of his 17 games this season.
I'm doubling down on Brown by backing him to go over 69.5 receiving yards, a number that has increased since opening after the NFC Championship Game. The reasoning is much the same as above.
The Chiefs have allowed 207 receiving yards per game in the playoffs, down from 218.8 in the regular season — but that’s likely to revert upwards given the focus on stopping Barkley.
Brown's gone over 69.5 receiving yards in nine games this season and his average across the regular season and postseason is 74.9 receiving yards per game. He’s capable of breaking off big plays and he will be somebody that the Eagles lean on throughout.
