Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Amari Cooper was placed on the COVID-19 list and has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Cowboys, as is tradition, are playing on Thanksgiving Day against the Las Vegas Raiders, and testing positive will rule Cooper out of that game, as well. If he gets enough negative tests, he would return on Dec. 2 against the Saints in Week 13.
Fantasy Insight
It's a significant blow for a Cowboys team that had only recently been returning to full health. Wide receiver Michael Gallup returned to the team last week and his fantasy value will certainly rise with Cooper being out.
"I would pivot to targeting Gallup, who had a shot at WR3 value in the high-powered Cowboys offense even before Cooper’s status was in doubt,” said Action Network fantasy football expert Chris Raybon.
Cooper is the only player on the Cowboys roster who has played the Chiefs on the road at Arrowhead Stadium. He averaged 5.3 receptions and 76.2 yards in his six career games against the Chiefs.
Cooper was in the midst of an average season. He's only had two 100+ receiving yard games this season and totaled 88 yards in his last two games.
Without Cooper, the Cowboys will turn to Gallup, CeeDee Lamb and Cedrick Wilson at wide receiver to catch passes from Dak Prescott.
Dallas is currently a 2.5-point underdog at DraftKings for Sunday's game, which has the highest total on the Week 11 board (56.5).
