The Arizona Cardinals (1-3) and San Francisco 49ers (2-2) will start the late Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 5. Kickoff is set for 4:05 p.m. ET from Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on CBS, and the game can be streamed on Paramount+ and YouTube TV.
The 49ers are consensus 7-point favorites over the Cardinals on the spread (49ers -7). The over/under is 49 after opening at 47. The 49ers are -345 to win outright, while the Cardinals are +275 to pull off the upset.
The 49ers got back on track last week with a 30-13 win over the Patriots. Brock Purdy is averaging 9.3 yards per attempt and 282.5 passing yards per game, while Jordan Mason has filled in well for Christian McCaffrey with 447 rushing yards in 4 games. The Cardinals were blown out 42-14 last week by the Commanders. For the season, Kyler Murray is still playing well with 6 touchdowns and 1 interception, but he'll need to bounce back from an underwhelming performance.

Cardinals vs. 49ers NFL Week 5
By Matt Trebby
Through two weeks of the season, the Cardinals were looking like a potential spoiler this season in the NFC West. Arizona gave Buffalo a scare in Week 1 then beat the Rams by 31 points.
The next two weeks have brought Arizona back down to earth, though, going 0-2 straight-up and against the spread against the Lions and Commanders. Both of those defeats were at home, and now Arizona hits the road after three straight weeks at State Farm Stadium.
The 49ers have been plagued by injuries so far to start the season. Christian McCaffrey hasn’t played yet this season, while Deebo Samuel and George Kittle have both missed a game already.
Jordan Mason and Jauan Jennings have stepped in admirably, though. Mason is second in the NFL in rushing yards behind Derrick Henry, while Jennings is fourth in receiving yards behind Nico Collins, Malik Nabers and DK Metcalf.
The Cardinals are a hot side to cover in Week 5.
Underdogs at +7.5 around the market are disappearing as limits increase. Historically, teams like the Cardinals are set up to rebound following a dismal performance, given the circumstances.
Arizona was dusted last week as 3.5-point favorites, 42-14. The 49ers, meanwhile, slugged the Pats 30-13.
Historically, when teams lose by 20 or more points, they cover the spread 58% of the time the next week if they’re at a certain spread range. Also, per our researcher Evan Abrams, teams to lose by 17+ points facing an opponent off a win by 17+ points are 113-77 ATS (60%) the last 20 years.
To top it off, ‘dogs of four or more points that are coming off a loss by 28 or more points cover the spread 62% of the time since tracking.
Arizona’s a hot PRO side, too, attracting four out of five signals.
Pick: Cardinals +7.5
